A. Educational resources are libraries, laboratories, museums, arboretums, gymnasiums, athletic facilities, campus radio stations and newspapers, classrooms, and faculty. Some things on campus, like dormitories, administrative offices, cafeterias, power plants and parking garages may be necessary to the operation of the institution, and the convenience of its staff, but they are not, strictly speaking, educational resources.

Copyrighting and selling educational resources??
Q. I currently produce educational resources in the form of PowerPoints for pupils aged 14-16, and have been told by the Head of the Dept. that i should try to sell these PowerPoints on to other schools and possibly the publishers of the core text book etc. I was just wondering if anyone could shed any light as to the path i should follow (like who to contact etc) and any problems i might face in doing so. I'm based in the UK. Thanks xx
Asked by sweetchaz - Wed May 21 10:45:09 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Until you get well established and well known, you will likely need to contact prospective institutions one-on-one. You might be able to bag several schools at once by going to the Board of Directors in a particular district and getting your productions sold bulk and exclusive to the schools in that zone. Good luck. As for copyrighting, you need to go through the copyright office and have that done. Your work will require some scrutiny to ensure it is authentic and original to you.

Web resources for educational questions and answers?
Q. I have a deadline and need to find some information for some work I'm doing. Can anyone suggest websites where I can find questions (and answers) in various subject areas like World History (not US History), Science, etc.? Thanks!! Search engines are wonderful but give too many options, some of which are nonsensical. I've been going through them for days!

What, if any, resources are available for user data storage within the Educational System?
Q. I work in the IT department of a community college in Calif. Our users, mainly staff and faculty, currently store their documents locally (the PC's hard disk). Some of them save to flash drives, but not many. Frequently a users hard disk will fail resulting in lost data. We are looking for a solution to this, ie. server, SAN, etc. Are there any resources available that are specifically directed toward the needs of educational institutions. It would be wonderful if free storage was available :)

What are online educational resources?
Q. What are online educational resources?
Asked by E - Fri Sep 25 16:31:01 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Here are some online educational resources. Review them so you can see how you will save time, money, and you will get a better education that a public school will give you. 1. CollegeBoard.com-learn about AP, CLEP, dual credit 2. MathTutorDVD.com-advance your math skills 3. AcademicEarth.org-online free video from major universities 4. your local community college website for dual credit online courses My son has used all of these and will graduate high school with more than 1/2 of his Associates requirements saving me a ton of money and probably will earn him a great scholarship. Also, the helped his science team to win the state science championship this last year. Good luck and work hard; otherwise, it is all for nothing.

Should Wikipedia be considered a viable educational resource?
Q. Currently the Universities of England, (don't know about Scotland or Wales, as they are foreign / weird) do not consider Wikipedia an accurate resource. I personally think this is correct and people using Wikipedia as a reference should get "a special mark".
Asked by metwou2002 - Fri Sep 14 05:07:36 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No. Wikipedia, though a great place to start research, should not be used as a source in a college level paper. Wiki-sites are ran/created/edited by the masses, and as a whole they are not considered credible professionals. I would start research at Wikipedia primarily to get a general understanding of a topic, but would use other sources such as books, articles from professional journels, and personal interviews as my sources.

A. The Companies House website - companieshouse.gov.uk. Some information is free such as registered office, date of incorporation, previous trading names etc. Other info such as names and addresses of Directors and copies of accounts have to be paid for but is not much - only 1 if I remember right. Hope this helps.

A. I don't know any titles of good books but the best place to get them is...go to like a Borders and go to the psychology/ self help section and there will be lots of choices. I have ADHD...let her know it's treatable and could go away with time...it's not necessarily a life long problem. It can also be managed with medication. Tell her not to worry.

Has anyone ever heard of Grant Educational Resources.com?
Q. They called and wanted to give us a grant, and wanted our SS number plus our checking account number with routing information, does this sound real?
Asked by Debi E - Fri Dec 8 20:14:11 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. II would be extremely wary of companies that claim you can get grants for whatever purpose you want because that is absolutely false and not how federal grants work. And I would be SCARED all the more that this company wants you to apply for grants through them because there is only ONE site where you can apply for grants legitimately - and that is Grants.gov Don't ever give your SS number and your checking account number as that is a SCAM You can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) and Grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support a for-profit venture. Even if… [cont.]

assuming limited educational resources, which is more important:?
Q. devoting substantial resources to helping the kids who are farthest behind catch up enough to achieve basic literacy and numeracy, but leaving kids who are doing well to fend for themselves/ not learn anything new ... or helping each child advance at the same rate from their personal starting point, leaving some kids illiterate/not numerate (pardon my lack of literacy because i'm not sure what the word is for that, lol) but helping others achieve very high levels of potential? innumerate, apparently not sure, chey: i don't like either option and would like to believe those who are saying you can have both with limited resources. it's not what i've seen happening in my kids' school, though.

A. Every book has a different theory. Consistency and patience are the keys. Stand up for the child in school and make them recognize that he has a disability. This way the school must give him an education instead of branding him in the category of unable to learn. My grandson is on medication and is doing beautifully. Now he is not yelled at, no longer do kids make remarks because he couldn't sit still. etc. At 8 years old he is catching up and reading well. At 6 he did not know his colors or how to write his name. This is not because he isn't intelligent, it's because he could not concentrate for more than a few seconds. He is a success story. A very smart boy who can read.

As a mother of four, how can I overcome the negative effects of family size on educational performance?
Q. ""Although the inverse relationship between the number of siblings and children's educational performance has been well established, explanations for this relationship remain primitive. One explanation, resource dilution, posits that parents have finite levels of resources (time, energy, money, etc.) and that these resources are diluted among children as sibship size increases. I provide a more rigorous investigation of the dilution model than previous studies, testing its implications with a sample of 24,599 eighth graders from the 1988 [U.S.] National Education Longitudinal Study. My analyses support the resource dilution model in three ways." === But come on... there must be something parents of numerous kids can do to counteract… [cont.]
