How can one write an English thesis and include information from a foreign language interview findings?
Q. How do students who write their theses in english report interview findings of a foreign language. For example, if one is writing a thesis in english and conducts an interview in the french language because the interviewee can only speak french, how does the writer report the empirical findings? Direct quotes In French and then Translate? Or Just interpret the findings? Any idea? Thank you so much!!!

A. A summary is usually sufficient, however, if you want to be thorough, you can provide a direct translation with a foot note stating that the interview was translated into English. Depending on the length of your thesis, you may want to add the interview int he appendix. If you can find the interview already translated from a peer reviewed source, you should try to quote from there instead of from the original interview.
