How is Europe going to combat the influx of Middle Eastern immigrants?
Q. I can't see how if they keep on their current path, that Europe will still be Europe in a few decades. Perhaps another Arabia though.

A. Greece, as an important EU member state, started the combat first: by putting into sea the African emigrants. Must be an EU standard or EU Directive.

Where in Europe should my husband and I visit in March in Europe?
Q. My husband works with the United Nations and he has been gone from the United States since last May. He came home for a visit (we have 4 children) in December and I'm planning to meet him somewhere in Europe in March for a little get-a-away for only the two of us. I would like to go somewhere with a lot of history to it but also romantic. We both love the Sea and learning history of ancient times and worlds.

A. I really liked Dubrovnik in Croatia...its right next to the sea and has stunning coastlines with crystal clear waters!! The town is quite small so only a few days is needed...if you want Split is only a few hours up the road and also on the coast. I was really surprised at the history that these places have...like Split has the earliest or one of the earliest cathedrals dating back to the 4th C or something like that! I went in April and found the weather warm, so I would say that it will be plesant I guess in March and maybe a little cool. I really loved Croatia...I hear the islands are wonderful there ( I missed out on them) and the National Lakes are great too ( again I missed out on them). if you don;t mind travelling the area, then… [cont.]

She is fluent and natural in english but most sschools in Europe or where she lives ;Brussels, dont teach in primary english but in french and what not. How can she find out about schools that accept international students and all the jibberish and what not she needs to know about the payments and admission criteria and stuff. Thanks.

A. Almost every college and university in the US accept international students -- most even have a special office for that purpose. They will have to pay out of state tuition fees however. She'll also need to take the TOEFL test in Belgium. Some colleges may also require the SAT. You might have her start looking at colleges she'd like to attend and then contacting their international student offices directly. Once she has been accepted, she'll use that acceptance to go to the US Embassy and apply for her F1 visa.

A. Europe is the continent with the most moderate climate: due to the Gulfstream there are no big fluctuations between summer and winter. Compare for instance the climate of London and Paris with that at cities at the same latitude in America and China. London and Paris hardly ever have snow and this has been true for at least three quarters of the last 20 centuries. Location is second. Europe is isolated from the rest of the Eurasian continent. When human beings came out of Africa, where they originated, access to Europe was difficult: the Bosporus is open, most of the time, the Caucasus blocks the other road of entry. So few human beings arrived and they could develop easily because population pressure was low and stayed low. Trade is… [cont.]

What is the cheapest airline to go to Europe?
Q. I'm planning a trip to Europe in May. My roommates and I are planning on flying into any city in Europe (whichever is cheapest) and traveling around Europe for a month before flying out of the same city. We are trying to find the cheapest flight possible. Could anyone tell me which airline is cheapest, and which city is most likely to be the cheapest to fly into? We're pretty flexible, but we'd like to fly into a bigger city--Athens, Rome, Frankfurt, etc. Any city that is also somewhere that would be a good place to see while we're in Europe. Thanks for your help. Sorry. I live in Philadelphia, but could fly out of Philadelphia, Newark, or JFK

A. Impossible to answer without knowing where you're coming from. EDIT. From NYC Cheapest route is to fly to London via Keflavik with Icelandair. US Air flies direct from Phily to Heathrow. Although the fare is a bit higher you save the cost of travel to NYC so check this out as well. I suggest to get the best deal. Ian M

A. Someone above said "move east" and that is true to some extent. Some of my favourite places to go where the only tourists are other local people: a) Bohemian Paradise Located about 50 miles northeast of Prague. Buy a trail map in Prague of "Cesky raj" (they sell them at all major bookstores), pack your tent and sleeping bag and take a bus to the sleepy provincial town of Jicin. From there it's a 5 mile hike to the area. A wonderful combination of sandstone cliffs, sinkholes, castle ruins and little village cottages. Excellent hiking and plenty of people around. Plan on a three+ day stay here. Chances of meeting another American: 0.1%. b) Low Tatras (Slovakia) Lovely, breathtaking and again -- the only tourists you meet will be… [cont.]

A. Had leaders in Europe not apporached Hitler with appeasement, it is arguable that nothing would have changed as Hitler was too strong at this point to begin with. Hitler would go to war with the allies anyways, appeasment meerly delayed the inevitable.

A. Germany Germany is s the world's third largest economy by nominal GDP and the largest exporter of goods in 2007. In absolute terms, Germany allocates the second biggest annual budget of development aid in the world. Most of Germany has a temperate climate in which humid westerly winds predominate. Winters there are mild and summers tend to be cool, though temperatures can exceed 30 C (86 F) for prolonged periods. In the east, the climate is more continental; winters can be very cold, summers can be very warm, and long dry periods are often recorded. Central and southern Germany are transition regions which vary from moderately oceanic to continental. Again, the maximum temperature can exceed 30 C (86 F) in summer. Therefore nice and… [cont.]

He was killed by a gunshot in the capital of Austrian controlled Bosnia Herzegovina, Sarajevo, but a Serbian nationalist. It has been urgued that Serbia was in fact behind it. The reason for the killing on the Crown Prince lay in his plans for the future Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Slav/Balkan provinces it held in the south. A. If you could depart May 21, I see San Francisco-Manchester available currently with KLM for $716rt total; LAX-London $726 with Air New Zealand, British Airways, Virgin, and American (all nonstop). I checked from SFO and LAX to all gateways in Italy and Switzerland, plus MAN and LON. It looks like flights to UK are cheaper during this time frame by about $300. From London, you can book separately to another city, and return back to London from a different city, using Alternatively, take a flight with Virgin America or JetBlue or another airline to NYC (JFK Airport), then switch to to Italy. They often have very good offers for departures in May.

Whats the cheapeset city to fly to in Europe on Continental Airlines?
Q. My friend and I are planning on spending a month in Europe this summer. We have airmiles, so we have to fly Continental. There isn't an option of just saying, give me the cheapest flight to anywhere in Europe, so its very tedious to go through, trying every city and every date. So far, London seems best. Anyone know of another, cheaper, destination. We are flexible. The airmiles will only cover one of us
Asked by gummageworzel - Sat Feb 23 20:29:01 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Continental sometimes have good mile specials to Dusseldorf. Be aware that you can also use Continental miles to book Delta and Northwest flights. While that gives you even more options, it does make finding the lowest available reward seat and cheapest flight a more difficult task. Northwest has a good--easy month-by month--reward availability search that shows Continental and Delta. Maybe try their's at NWA.com to track down the cheapest reward miles routes, then go to Continental to book it. Usually, new service cities that aren't filling seats will get their price reduced and open up mileage seats. Also check for Bristol, Shannon, Hamburg, Lisbon, Stockholm, and Geneva.

Where is the best place in Europe for beginners snowboarding ?
Q. My wife has always wanted to go snowboading. As a 40th birthday present I would like to take her for a week. As we are both beginners, can anyone recommend a good resort in Europe ? I would appreciate personal experience, rather than a copy and paste from a website review. It's not for some time yet (April 2009), but I thought I should start the planning now :-)

A. Cortina is an excellent place to learn to begin. It's also near other resorts which can be caught by bus or car. Since it's April, you may have better luck with Switzerland. Zermatt usually have a good snowpack until late May. The glacier is open later, so you'll always have a pretty good snow. If you want ambience as well, you could always go to Innsbruck or Chamonix.

What are some tips on saving money while traveling Europe?
Q. Besides eating cheaply, because it is Europe! The food is amazing I want to eat my brains out there! Food is half the reason i am going to Europe!
Asked by Bulah Z - Sun Nov 25 14:17:49 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. First, eastern Europe is much cheaper than the west. Mostly it is cheaper to stay in smaller towns, the capital of the country is mostly the most expensive town by far, but in the big towns you can often also find real bargains if you look well, in small towns there are fewer extremely cheap places. Hostels, bus travel and cheap airlines for the long distances, but book early for cheap bus and plane tickets. If you love your food, have a good cooked lunch, and keep the dinners low profile, like the small eateries or get some bread and toppings in specialist stores like the butchers. Quality you do not get anywhere else.
