Could fibriods be a result of early pregnancy?
Q. Could fibriods be a result of early pregnancy?
Asked by confused2 - Fri Dec 5 17:57:12 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. No. Somewhere between 50-70% of all women have fibroids, usually in their 30s, and they can come and go. It has nothing to do with being pregnant - pregnancy can make them shrink and can make them grow, it has more to do with not getting pregnant for a long time in your life.

What causes Fibriods in the Uterus?
Q. What causes Fibriods in the Uterus?
Asked by rhi808 - Mon Nov 19 02:31:31 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The cause of uterine fibroids is not known. Fibroids begin when cells overgrow in the muscular wall of the uterus. Once a fibroid starts, its growth seems to be linked to the hormone estrogen. The hormone progesterone may also promote fibroid growth. This is why uterine fibroids are not a problem during low-hormone times of a woman's life, when her menstrual cycle is not active. After menstrual periods stop completely (known as menopause, usually around age 50), uterine fibroids shrink and symptoms go away. As you age, you are more likely to have uterine fibroids, especially from your 30s and 40s through menopause. Most women have uterine fibroids by the time they reach age 50. Many do not have symptoms. 1 Hope this helps

A. I have a large 10cm fobroid and could not get pregnant for 4 yrs, when i found out it was a fibroid i went on a waiting list with the hospital to have it removed. While waiting to be called i relaxed and started to look forward to getting pregnant the following year without the fibroid. And what do you think happened! i got pregnant without even trying. So although the fibriods could be causing trouble you may also be too anxious to get pregnant which can also stop it from happening. I dont recommend you getting pregnant while you still have the fibriods as they can cause problems. Fibriods are known to grow with the extra hormones when you are expecting, you can also lose a lot of blood while giving birth. But obviously you should discuss… [cont.]

Q. I just turned 30 less than a month ago and just found out I have fibroids and a cyst on my ovary... I had been bleeding for about a month straight and got very week and tired (found out I was animic). I have had symtoms of pressure on lower abdomin, some pain, breast tenderness, tired, etc... Tommorow I have my apt with the doctor to find out how many, how big and so on. I would like to know what are some of the solutions there are to these problems. I also have Factor V Leiden, a blood clotting gene, so my option of taking hormones are out of the question. Thanks for taking the time...

A. I'm 41 years old. I just had a partial hysteroctomy ( i think that is how you spell it). I also had a cyst and fibroids. with the fibroids - my doctor only found one during her exam and the ultrasound only showed one. when the doctor was doing the surgery she found a total of FIVE ! they were on the back side of my uterus they were un-detected by ultrasound and physical exam. but I too had bleeding and it was painful to have sex. my uterus was three times its normal size and i had 5 fibroids. so please tell your doctor everything. my doctor suggested birth control. but with further testing i had to have the surgery. birth control helps the fibroids not to grow anymore. good luck with the doctor. hope everything works out.

Let me share a true story with you , when my mom was around 35 i would say, she had fibroids , it was cool, nothing happened but as she got older (around 48) the fibroids were making her bleed more to the point where she couldn't stand up without extreme blood flow she had to go to the hospital and she had a hysterectomy after a very short time of taking birth control to control blood flow. ALL i am saying is i think she will be well but to keep an eye on those fibroids when she gets older ...it all depends on genetics and health though, so i am not trying to freak u out. A. It's too late now and while it will be high risk this baby deserves a chance. Just have some faith and take care of yourself. The doctor is aware and chances are it's going to be tougher on you than the baby. You can do this and just imagine how happy you are gonna be when you see that sweet little face.

A. Perhaps you have more fibroids, or perhaps the tubal didn't take?? have you seen your doctor. Or you might be under some stress which can lead to amenorrhe (missing period). Or you can be starting early on the change. Have yourself checked.Hopefully you are having routine checks anyway with your history

Fibroids during pregnancy?
Q. I have a friend - well aquaintence really - who is now 8 months pregnant, and turning to me (as the only one she knows with a baby) for support. Which is fine, I'm happy to help but I had a completely different experience than she is having. She has fibriods and is under close medical supervision, does/did anyone else have the same thing? What were your experiences of pregnancy and birth, and could you offer my friend any advice? Will it impact on labour and delivery? Many thanks for your time.

A. I was diagnosed with fibroid when I was preg with my first child. Fibroids generaly don't cause complications with pregnancy unless they are large or the placenta is over the area the fibroid is at. They can make labor set on early and can cause the uterus not to contract properly. Most of the time pitocen can be used to help with contraction and she might be put on bedrest if it causes her to start contracting too early. If the fibroids cause the uterus not to contract enough for delivery they may have to do a c section, but to my understanding pitocen usually does the trick.

Q. ok so i have pcos (recentaly diagnoised) 11 months ago when i had my son they found some fibriods in my uteus, but those didnt really caus eme pain, but now for the past 2 days my right ovary has been hurting, its not constant. it will just hurt out of nowhere for a few minuets than go away, just to come back and do the smae thing. these are not ovulation pains, i am not ovulating, and havent had a period since july06. i do have an u/s on monday, but just wondering what you think..maybe a cyst, do those hurt? thats the only thing i can think of..oh yea its like a sharp stabbing pain then goes to dull for a max of 10 minuets each time it happens and it happened about 5 times today

A. I've read that liquid chlorophyll and omega 3 oils will help reduce swelling in those areas. They have helped women get pregnant with blocked tubes. As far as unblocking them completely I think you have to have surgery. Good luck! p.s. You can buy both of those at any health food store.
