Why would a doctor tell my sister to keep taking birth control if she has estrogen dependent fibriods?
Q. My sister has estrogen dependent fibroids and is on the pill-she is convinced- because 3 doctors have told her so she says-that she will bleed profusely if she stops the pill-that the fibroids need the estrogen to fight themselves or something along those lines. Am i the only person who this does not make any sense to? Can someone please make me understand this.

A. Birth control pills regulate the amount of estrogen in the female body. Did her doctor put her on a low dose estrogen birth control Pill? I have Endometriosis and it is actually controlled by me being on the pill continuously for 3 months, then I take a week off and back on for 9 weeks or 3 months. It seems to help. There are a lot of different pills out there for a lot of different reasons. Something else she may want to try is called Estrosense, it's available at health food stores. It helps with pain and inflammation. It has helped my endo... Check it out.

can fibriods create a feeling of being pregnant?
Q. A woman of 53 years whose menstruation stoped more than two years ago is having a feeling of being pregnant. She is also having fibroids in her womb.
Asked by chinni - Sat Nov 11 00:58:34 2006 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Absolutely they can! They also will most probably start shrinking after menopause because estrogen levels decrease. Some firbroids can weigh 25 pounds or more.

I was having bilateral renal calculi, uterus fibriods.i took medicines. Now everthing is normal but i am?
Q. suffering from splenomegamy. Is this because of d side effects of homeopathic medicines that i took 4 renal calculi and uterus fibriods?
Asked by urfee j - Thu Feb 19 05:24:16 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Never. Homeopathic medicine can only heal a diseased condition. It cannot produce any side effects because it does not contain any chemical compound. I have to congratulate you for opting homeopathy to treat your diseased condition. Just have faith in it and once again consult the same homeo physician and get treated for your splenomegaly. Wonderful results could be expected within few days. Best of luck.

Q. Could fibriods be a result of early pregnancy?
Asked by confused2 - Fri Dec 5 17:57:12 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. No. Somewhere between 50-70% of all women have fibroids, usually in their 30s, and they can come and go. It has nothing to do with being pregnant - pregnancy can make them shrink and can make them grow, it has more to do with not getting pregnant for a long time in your life.

I have fibriods, which bleed heavily for two weeks per cycle. how can I stop or slow it down non surgically?
Q. It's been over 10 yrs since I was diagnosed with fibriods, now they're out of control. I bleed for weeks heavily, I clot, and I'm afraid of surgery. Is there another aternative other than surgery? My medical coverage is limited (as a matter of factly). Today is straw that broke the camel's back. I took my son to the Zoo, I was far from the ladies room when all of a sudden I had a gush, I was red all over, someone please help me. Thank You

A. I also had fibroids, 12 Some that surrounded my uterus and ovaries and some within the uterine walls. And like you had heavy bleeding(and severe cramping) I also had Endometriosis.(which you may also have) My Doctor monitored both for a couple of years Since there are different types of Fibroids. They had me on birth control to try and control the neverending bleeding but it didnt help much. They said the options were lazer surgery through a lapioscopy (an incision through the belly button and much easier than regular surgery) or partial or full hysterectomy if needed. He also said most women didn't usually have these issues after menopause. I was 25 when it started and 38 when I had had to have a full hysterectomy. There were 12 fibroids… [cont.]

A. I have a large 10cm fobroid and could not get pregnant for 4 yrs, when i found out it was a fibroid i went on a waiting list with the hospital to have it removed. While waiting to be called i relaxed and started to look forward to getting pregnant the following year without the fibroid. And what do you think happened! i got pregnant without even trying. So although the fibriods could be causing trouble you may also be too anxious to get pregnant which can also stop it from happening. I dont recommend you getting pregnant while you still have the fibriods as they can cause problems. Fibriods are known to grow with the extra hormones when you are expecting, you can also lose a lot of blood while giving birth. But obviously you should discuss… [cont.]

Interesting that the last person mentioned Insulin-like growth factor. Has anyone lost weight while having a fibriod?
Q. Hello, Im wondering if there is anyone out there that is dealing with fibriods? I just got out of the hosptial a few months ago. Had surgery to remove 3 extremly large ones. Im still pretty young, so I am aware that I am at high risk of them comming back. My question is has anyone lost weight while actually having the fibriods. They have caused me so much grief.

A. I lost a lot of weight I mean major it was something like 15 pounds in one month. My doctors and all my family were worried. They were just so bad I couldn't move. I thought it had something to do with the miscarriage I had the month before. Because since they have acted up but nothing like the pain I was experiencing that month. My pain on a one to ten scale is usually a 6 or higher but on that specific month I was in the twenties being beyond excruciating. So believe me I really feel for you. I don't think its normal to loose weight though.

A. It's too late now and while it will be high risk this baby deserves a chance. Just have some faith and take care of yourself. The doctor is aware and chances are it's going to be tougher on you than the baby. You can do this and just imagine how happy you are gonna be when you see that sweet little face.

A. Perhaps you have more fibroids, or perhaps the tubal didn't take?? have you seen your doctor. Or you might be under some stress which can lead to amenorrhe (missing period). Or you can be starting early on the change. Have yourself checked.Hopefully you are having routine checks anyway with your history

A. She might be afraid that she won't be able to carry a baby to term. That means for you guys to have children, you will either need a surrogate mother or to adopt. Tell her to get to an OB/GYN as soon as possible and see if they can remove the fibroids. They have laser surgery that can leave the uterus intact, although I'm not too sure on what condition the laser surgery will leave the uterus. In the worst case scenario, she would need to have a hysterectomy. That is where they surgically remove the uterus. Good luck.
