SpanishVerbformulas (infinitive: formular) From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. In mathematics and other sciences, a formula (plural: formulas or formulae ) is a concise way of expressing information symbolically (as in a mathematical or chemical formula), or a general relationship between quantities. One of many famous formulae is Albert Einstein's E = mc (see special relativity). In mathematics, a formula is a key to solve an equation with variables. For example, the problem of determining the volume of a sphere is one that requires a significant amount of integral calculus to solve. However, having done this once, mathematicians can produce a formula to describe the volume in terms of some other parameter (the radius for example). This particular formula is: Having determined this result, and having a sphere of which we know the radius we can quickly and easily determine the volume. Note that the quantities V, the volume, and r the radius are expressed as single letters. This convention, while less important in a relatively simple formula, means that mathematicians can more quickly manipulate larger and more complex formulae. In general mathematical use there is no essential difference in meaning with the term "expression", although the word "formula" tends to be reserved for an expression that "can stand on its own", that has a meaning outside of the immediate context in which it appears and a significance that can be grasped intuitively. In a general context, formulae are applied to provide a mathematical solution for real world problems. Some may be general: F = ma, which is one expression of Newton's second law, is applicable to a wide range of physical situations. Other formulae may be specially created to solve a particular problem; for example, using the equation of a sine curve to model the movement of the tides in a bay. In all cases however, formulae form the basis for all calculations. From Wikipedia under the

Answered by NotTheWowy - Sat Jan 31 11:39:12 2009 How do I write formulas for compounds made of elements from the periodic table? Q. I dont get this stuff at all :( First of all what are multivalent metals??? What are ionic compounds??? What are polyatomic ions??? What are the rules for writing the formulas for each of them?? An example would also be nice. Thx people plz help me i hav a big test tomoro on this stuff and i dont get it. Asked by Jj K - Tue Oct 28 02:26:51 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Multivalent metals are metals that have more than 1 valent state. An easy way to tell these apart is, for example, Iron 3 will look like Fe(III)3+ as opposed to Fe(II)2+ An ionic compound is a compound that is composed of a metal and a non metal... eg, FeBr3 - Fe(III) being the metal, Br being the non metal a polyatomic ion is a compound that is composed of more than one atom. For example, hydroxide - OH is compoised of O and H. Carbonate CO3 is composed of C and 3 O's the easiest way to write formulas is look at the charge of the 2 species and put it on the opposite atom... eg. FeBr3 - Fe(III) has a charge of 3+, so you add 3 atoms of Bromine. Bromine has a charge of 1-, so you add 1 atom of Iron. Q. I need this for a school project and I am having difficulty determining which formulas and aspects are appropriate to use when calculating the physics of tennis. You can either write some of the major formulas and what part they play in tennis or give me a good link for it.
