What Georgia colleges do you recommend that are part of the state university system?
Q. My daughter's first choice is UGA, but we need a viable back-up plan if she doesn't get in. We went for a tour of Georgia College and State University, but weren't impressed. I kind of like Georgia Southern, but I hear it's a big party school. (She's a pretty diligent student, but she also likes to have fun.) If you have any personal experience -- good or bad -- please advise. I'd like her to take advantage of the Hope scholarship - so we're honing in on state schools. Many thanks!

A. Well Im a senior at Georgia State University and I love it! It is not a party school- we do not even have greek housing but it is located downtown which is actually pretty cool, I love it. Also, Im a business major and the GSU Robinson College of Business is one of the top ranked in the country among business schools and even had grad programs that have been ranked in the top 10 for the last 14 years in a row... But campus life is great, we have brand new dorms in fact. We are getting a new football team with head coach bill curry in fall 2010 and everyone has been excited about that for the past 2 years so that will be a big deal- games will be played int he ga dome! overall its a great school, and they really help you get work… [cont.]

How can I get to Georgia and back home on a budget?
Q. With the economy as it is and many people are on tight budgets as myself and disabled, how can I travel cheaply from Baltimore to Georgia? Bus is cheap but nearly 21 hour ride, train more expensive and takes just as long and sleeper car hundreds extra, and plane is mortgage payment? Any advice? Need to go see grandson to bring him back. A. I was unable to find where newspaper sales are exempt from sales tax. The link below lists all exemptions from Georgia sales tax, and #45 and #61 are close to newspapers, but newspapers would not be exempt according to this listing.

A. I always recommend the Wingate Inn at Six Flags. Its only 3 yrs. old and about 10 minutes from downtown Atlanta. They have a free full breakfast, swimming pool, jacuzzi, courtesy shuttle, all for less than 100.00 per nite.

How to out a speeding ticket in Georgia?
Q. About a month ago I got pulled over for going 71 on a 55 in Georgia. (16 over). I was late getting home one night, sped up to pass someone in the right lane, and crossed over. I just recently got my court date and a fine of 125. I'm going to have to ask to reschedule my court date because I will be away, but I am definitely planning on showing up. This should put two points on my license, but I've been driving for a little less than 6 months and want to do everything possible to get those points off. A. Hi, you will be very lucky to 'get away' with this. The police officer WILL turn up and you will be fined...you will, too, almost certainly get the 2 points on your licence. One thing to try? Say your speedometer is reading a couple of miles per hour under what it should...you MAY get away with the 15 mph and not the 16 mph. May? However, when you think about it this is not much of a defence, and could get you in deeper trouble with the law. In effect you would be saying 'Look I know I was speeding, but I thought I was only doing 15 mph over the limit, not 16mph.' A. It depends on which route you take. Note that all Interstate highways are designed so the "grade" (steepness of the road) is minimal. Taking I-10 to CA would be the route with the least mountains. Your parents should consider joining AAA (American Automobile Association). AAA will help with trip planning and also provide road service along the way.

A. Amending your soil is the best way to go. Adding compost, and maybe sand to loosen the ground and other amending ingredients will make the soil amenable to just about any flower that you like because it aerates and allows roots to grow for strong plants. Go to your local nursery and see what plants you like, then ask if they grow well in your type of soil. They live there so they should know what grows best. Another source is a home extension group in your area. My Mom grew huge dahlias but our soil was great--my Dad used a lot of manure and compost material first and really worked it into the soil. A. Hey man, i tint for a living and follow the laws closely (dont abide by them of course lol)... Anyway the WHOLE reason they changed that law here in georgia was because of people from out of state The way the law was worded made it so people from out of state could roll through our state with dark window tint and there would be nothing we could do about it... So inorder to change the law they had to take it away for a bit so they could reword it and make it so they can bust those guys coming from florida etc. The absolute legal limit on a car is %32 all the way around... theres no getting around it... some cops however say that as long as the front two are %32 they wont write you a ticket... doesnt change the law though...
