A. In the back of the book? Seriously though, people on here very rarely know the answer to those kinds of questions. You've got more chance of getting help if you post some actual questions; we don't all have a library of maths textbooks to hand; and there are thousands of them in the UK, maybe millions worldwide so the chances of anyone even knowing of the one you're using is quite remote.

Algebra question. Any help is appreciated.?
Q. This question is form a glencoe Algebra 1 book 2005 edition. "Phisical science when water freezes, its volume is increased by one-eleventh. In other words, the volume of ice equals the sum of the volume of the water and the product of one-eleventh and the volume of the water. If x cubic centimeters of water is frozen, write an expression for the volume of the ice that is formed." Thank You

A. x= Cubic Centimeters of water Expression: (1/11)x+x You multiply 1/11 and x, then add x which gives you the volume of ice formed.

I'm having a test wednesday and this is my last resort! I've tried asking my mom, looking online for tutors and all that stuff. I'm hoping there is someone out there that can help me! The answers are: #25) y = -1/2x+7/2 #27) y= -0.5x-2 #29) y= -4/5x+17/5 #33) y=x+4 I got these out of the back of my book. The book I am using is Glencoe Mathematics… [cont.]
Asked by c a t 3 7 3 (^_^) - Sun Sep 13 14:49:32 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. 25. y = mx + b Plug (1,3) in for (x,y) and -1/2 in for m, because m is slope. 3 = -1/2 (1) + b 3 = -1/2 +b 3 + 1/2 = b b = 7/2 So now, you have y = -1/2 x + 7/2 27. y = mx + b (2, 5) is (x, y); -0.5 = m 5 = -0.5 (2) + b 5 = -1 + b 5 + 1 = b b = 6 y = -0.5x + 6 This isn't what you have as an answer, so let's check it. Slope = m = -0.5, that's good. Now let's plug in x = 2, and see if we get y = 5... -0.5 * 2 + 6 = -1 + 6 = 5. So y = -0.5x + 6 is correct 29. y = mx + b Slope: use the slope formula (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) to find m. (-2,5) is (x1, y1) (3,1) is (x2, y2) m = (1 - 5) / (3 - (-2)) = (-4)/ (5) = -4/5 Now plug in (-2,5) for (x,y) and (-4/5) for m in y = mx + b 5 = -4/5 * -2 + b 5 = 8/5 +b 25/5 - 8/5 = b b = 17/5 y = -4/5 x + 17/5 33. x-i [cont.]
