A. Go to their website and you might be able to get the answers. Or if you have the book, they have all of the odd answers in the back of the book. (Or if you have an older sibling who's really good at math, they can help a lot!)

Algebra question. Any help is appreciated.?
Q. This question is form a glencoe Algebra 1 book 2005 edition. "Phisical science when water freezes, its volume is increased by one-eleventh. In other words, the volume of ice equals the sum of the volume of the water and the product of one-eleventh and the volume of the water. If x cubic centimeters of water is frozen, write an expression for the volume of the ice that is formed." Thank You

A. x= Cubic Centimeters of water Expression: (1/11)x+x You multiply 1/11 and x, then add x which gives you the volume of ice formed.

I don't need math tutoring, but I would like something for typing math assignments easier. I'm in Algebra 1 and will be in Geometry next year. Our school uses Glencoe math and my computer doesn't have MS Word installed.

A. You should consider getting Shaum's Outlines: Elementary Algebra. It gives you a bunch of examples and good practice problems. It is the same book I used to get ahead in algebra.

A. have u been taught this? i'm sure if u were asked to do these questions you would have been properly taught it. but i could be wrong... 1) impossible, u can only add or subtract matrices that have the same dimentions ie: same number of columns and rows 2)possible, simply subtract each term of A from B in their correct positions 3) possible, times every term in the matrix by 2 4) possible, times every term in the matrix by -4 you can try the working out

Subject/Lesson: Graphing Inequalities in Two Variables Ch.6 Lesson 6 Glencoe/McGraw-Hill Algebra 1 book Graph each inequality: 1. y < 4 2.-x > y 3.3x+6y > or equal to 12 4.y < -1/2x-3 WHAT?! *Every problem has a graph next to it for...well...graphing.. I supposed to turn each equation in y=mx+b form I CAN'T just graph y < 4 you blonde what about if the question/equation has a larger/less than of=r equal to sign?

A. y<4 that means you draw a horizontal line on four through the y axis and you shade everything under the line, but since it is not < or equal to, you draw a dashed line and shade everything under it. just solve for y, try to isolate the y and graph them in a TI-84 calc

A. No, dear. The password is only in the hands of a few educators and apparently your instructor was not selected as one of them. However, I found some links for the same book/info. I hope you can find whatever chapter info you need. Sorry, if you are trying to get around buying the textbook. Good luck! PS: You have to buy the book all the time in college.

A. I get different questions every time I go there. Write down exactly which questions you have problems with so I can help you with them. You can email them to me if you want. I am going to do some of them just so that you have something to work with: What is the value of 9 - [12 + (15 3)]? 9 - [12 + (15 3)] = 9 - [12 + 5] = 9 - 17 = -8 An 18-foot ladder is placed 6 feet from the wall. Approximately how high does the ladder reach? x^2 + 6^2 = 18^2 x^2 + 36 = 324 x^2 = 324 - 36 x^2 = 288 x = 16.97 (or 17 since 17 is one of the answers) Evaluate a - b^2 if a = 4 and b = 3. a - b^2 = 4 - 3^2 = 4 - 9 = -5 Solve 18 + a = 36 18 + a = 36 a = 38 - 18 a = 18 Write an inequality for the following problem. One fourth of a number increased… [cont.]

Ready for Pre-Calc? given my previous math coursework: Contemporary Mathematics In Context: course 1-3?
Q. I have taken courses 1-3 of Contemporary Mathematics in Context: A Unified Approach by Glencoe and I am transferring into another school and I want to take Pre-Calculus, however, I am concerned given the integrated approach to my mathematics curriculum was not algebraically intensive. It was more graphical and symbolic in nature. Will I need to take Algebra II to gain these strengths or am I prepared. My curriculum introduced many topics from statistics, geometry, discrete maths (sequences and series, matricies, and others). I need a suggestion from someone who knows the curriculum inside and out... Thanks
Asked by a_johnson_1991 - Fri Aug 15 21:25:26 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I never seen contemporary mathematics in context: a unified approach; but I do know the calculus series pretty well. For your typical pre-calculus course, you will learn trig functions (as far as sin, cos, tan goes) as well as formulating degs and rads from them. If you know what i'm talking about, you're more than prepared. However, in bare minimum to take the course, I recommend you brush up on your algebra in terms of quickly breaking apart equations and reforming them to solve for variables and geometry in terms of the circle. Your advanced pre-calc class adds on derivatives to the above towards the end of the year. This topic is very fun and easy once you understand the regular pre-calc stuff. Pre-Calc is nothing. Just pay close… [cont.]
