A. Well, there is this thing called paying attention in class. I did it in my Geometry class, using the same book, and came out with a 93. It works pretty well. All you have to do is use your brain a little and put some effort into it.

A. Hey Pal, you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. You are obviously learning from some other place. School is not for you at this time. If you are looking for a quick fix, I suggest you write a Hackers Manual for "Quick-study-Glencoe Method... You don't want to fool around with Health. That is so Taboo. You have to be at your best in this field. Get your Think Tank Together.

Q. its about tangents and secants...i wish i knew what dat was help heres my book
Asked by hAhA...<33 - Mon Apr 20 09:53:23 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. A secant line of a curve is a line that (locally) intersects two points on the curve. In other words, a line that goes through a circle (or any curve). In geometry, the tangent line (or simply the tangent) to a curve at a given point is the straight line that "just touches" the curve at that point. In other words, a line that touches a circle (or any curve) without cutting it. Image: Look it up on Wikipedia for more infos.

A. Have you looked on eBay? of course it will be used there, and probably out of date. Textbooks are one of the biggest scams out there. EDIT--I just looked. There is one on eBay for $45 That's about half price. I bet it goes quick.

Besides text books, whats a series of books that focus on school subjects that I can use for help? More inside
Q. Well I know text book companies like Glencoe and Mcgraw-Hills are one. But I don't necessarily want a text book. I also don't want cliff notes' books, sparknotes' books, etc. I kind of want an encylcopedia series, except not based on each letter of the alphabet, but rather each school subject (math [algebra, geometry, calculas], science [biology, chemistry, physics], social studies [European History, U.S. History]). Does such a set exist...or is it all in my imagination?--i don't really care who the retailer is as long as they've had fairly positive reviews.

A. There's always the "Idiot's guide" and "guides for dummies" books. They sound condescending, but I've owned a few and they're really pretty good. They also come in almost every subject. Some college bookstores have little fold out pages with formulas, rules, tips and summaries for all the subjects too.

A. 12. Every triangle is congruent, they all have their largest angles in the middle, meaning they all have their largest sides on the exterior. Because they're congruent and they have all the same sides facing out, the shape must be a rhombus. Number 14 is straightforward. QRST and QRTV are both rhombi. So QR is the same length as itself, making the side lengths of both rhombi equal, by the definition of a rhombus and the information given. Therefore, by the definition of a rhombus, QR = QT, QR = RT, therefore QRT is equilateral.

Ready for Pre-Calc? given my previous math coursework: Contemporary Mathematics In Context: course 1-3?
Q. I have taken courses 1-3 of Contemporary Mathematics in Context: A Unified Approach by Glencoe and I am transferring into another school and I want to take Pre-Calculus, however, I am concerned given the integrated approach to my mathematics curriculum was not algebraically intensive. It was more graphical and symbolic in nature. Will I need to take Algebra II to gain these strengths or am I prepared. My curriculum introduced many topics from statistics, geometry, discrete maths (sequences and series, matricies, and others). I need a suggestion from someone who knows the curriculum inside and out... Thanks
Asked by a_johnson_1991 - Fri Aug 15 21:25:26 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I never seen contemporary mathematics in context: a unified approach; but I do know the calculus series pretty well. For your typical pre-calculus course, you will learn trig functions (as far as sin, cos, tan goes) as well as formulating degs and rads from them. If you know what i'm talking about, you're more than prepared. However, in bare minimum to take the course, I recommend you brush up on your algebra in terms of quickly breaking apart equations and reforming them to solve for variables and geometry in terms of the circle. Your advanced pre-calc class adds on derivatives to the above towards the end of the year. This topic is very fun and easy once you understand the regular pre-calc stuff. Pre-Calc is nothing. Just pay close… [cont.]
