how do you make the glowing pickle, it's a science project!?

A. I have done this demonstration using an old electrical cord that is cut, split and the ends stripped. Wrap each of the exposed ends around a screw so that you can put one in each end of the pickle. I set up a ring stand to prop the pickle on, inserted the screws, THEN plugged in the cord. Don't hold the pickle when you plug it in. Also be sure you are using a dill pickle, your results will be better.

Seems to be some debate on the issue -- either the glow is caused by an electric arc within the pickle or it is caused by the excitation of the sodium atoms in the pickle, which then emit light as they fall back to their natural state. Apparently there has been some significant research on the subject (see the second link).

Would a sweet pickle conduct as much electricity as a dill pickle?
Q. Would a sweet pickle do the same, or would it react differently? This is for a science project :) I know that if you electricute a dill pickle it'll glow yellowy orange because of the salt. thank you :]

Have not had my period since sept 15th and but 10/26 i noticed spotting could i be prego?
Q. Ok I am 21 yrs old and never been pregnant or close to it i am always regular on my period but this month i did not have it at all and my last one was on sep 15th 09 but until last night i noticed spotting then it came out light then back to none but when i normally do have my period i am heavy but my husband says in his heart i am pregnant he has three kids of his own and knows this thing but i ma not to sure he says i have a glow about me but when i take a test it keeps coming up negative but we have only been having back to back sex for about a month now especially on my fertile and ovulating days but i am so confused can you please help me out thanks...Imean I am tired alot and craving some weird food like pickles and ice cream i feel… [cont.]
