8th Grade Science Fair Project Ideas?

Trouble learning in 8th grade science??
Q. Ok, first of all: I'm a straight-A student (except for science), and i really am not terrible at science. And i'm NOT criticizing my teacher, but just wondering how i can get the most out of the last few months of this year: For the past 3 out of the 4 quarters, i honestly feel that i've learned pretty much NOTHING out of my science teacher.. He's NOT a bad teacher (everyone else learns well from him), but i just can't understand the way he teaches.. For example, on multiple occasions, he encourages us to randomly guess on worksheets (and it doesn't even have to make sense), saying that it improves our creativity.. Also, he usually lets the class socialize for the first 4-5 minutes of class.. Also, he teaches by constantly asking… [cont.]

A. if you do not understand him and you`ve tried really hard then you have to do it your self. You know the textbook you use, read the chapter and write notes from it,read it several times and talk to your teacher, let him know why your not doing so good,Tell him what you want and what will help you .you`ll see I `m sure he `ll be more than happy to help you.

8th Grade Science Homework...?
Q. I can't understand my science homework can someone show me how to do it? The worksheet shows me a graph, on the y-axis it shows me the mass (g) and it goes by 5's up to 45, on the x-axis it shows me the volume (mL) and it goes by 10's up to 110. The first question says: What is the volume of a 50-gram piece of gold? The density of gold is 19.3g/cm3. The second question says: Find the mass of a piece of iron that is 5cm long, 2 cm wide, and 1 cm thick. The density of iron is 7.8 g/cm3. Can you show me how to do the questions?
Asked by s v - Mon Dec 3 02:28:59 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Density = Mass / Volume...just follow the chart to find the mass for the first question, then use the mass and divide it by the density to get the volume. for the second question, multiply the dimensions to get the volume of the iron. then use the density and multiply it to the volume and you get the mass. Cheers!

Find the acceleration of: a skateboard who goes from 0m/s to 5m/s in 2.5 seconds AND a train slows down from 12m/s to 9.6m/s in 0.8 seconds USE this formula a=f/m the formula stands for f=force m=mass a=acceleration please help, i have a whole worksheet to do im no being lazy im just really confused, first anser to get it right gets 10 pts by tommorow!!!
Asked by Brittney - Wed Apr 9 00:01:24 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. How would you use that equation when you don't know the mass of the skateboard or the train? Assuming a constant acceleration then a = change in velocity/change in time a = 5/2.5 = 2 m/s/s; for the skateboard for the train, also assume a constant deceleration: a = delta V / delta t a = (9.6-12)/0.8 = -2.4/0.8 = -24/8 = -3.0 m/s/s it's negative because the train is slowing down

Do you have any ideas for science and social studies curriculum for pre-k and k?
Q. I'm hoping to find printables and good websites with free worksheets, coloring pages, etc. dealing with science and social studies. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to teach these topics and what I should start with? My children are 4 and 6 and my 6 y.o. is more like kindergarten/first grade. Any help would be appreciated. I've been looking it up for awhile now. I'm hoping someone has personal experience with a website or something I'm missing.

A. I know this list is going to be very long, however social studies includes just about everything these day's, and is a catch all name for multiple subjects. These subjects can be done successfully in unit studies. Hope these will be of some help to you. This site does require a $20.00 yearly fee to have full use of all their printable materials, but it is well worth it. You can check them out for free, but it is a lot of curriculum in one place. Free computer software; just pay a nominal fee for shipping. Educational games. Bible. Book lists. Poetry. Weather/Meteorology (the weather dude). Astronomy Mr. Donn's history site - unit studies. Free Audio Books. On-Line e-mail and communication… [cont.]

A. Go to www. factmonster.com. Factmonster is quite helpful with these questions. It is one of the best websites available. They do not provide work sheets but you could always print out the sheets. Also try www.wikianswers.com. Make an appointment with a high school counselor about this. The counselor can provide information that will help you. The best of luck to you.

6th grade activities for Earth day (april 22nd)?
Q. I am a Junior in high school and must "teach" a 6th grade science class on Earth Day. I am scared out of my mind. I know I would like to have a few fun worksheets...but I am sure I need some general information on Earth day (pollution, green house effect, etc.)...I guess a small lecture. I have been looking into finding a nice arts and crafts activity but have found absolutely nothing... Any advice/tips would be useful (I have a huge fear of public speaking). But I would also like help finding the materials needed (the worksheets, arts and crafts, etc.)... Thanks so much.
