How noisy it the jet airplane flying at 6000-8000 feet heading TO the airport for landing?
Q. I'm thinking of buying a house, and FAA recently announced that in 12-24 month they will redirect the air traffic heading to the major local airport over the area i'm interested in. According to their statement, the jets will fly at 6000-8000 feet above the ground. How loud is it? is it a concern at all? thank you! If it will help, the area is Suffern, NY Airport: Newark Liberty in Newark NJ, possibly also LGA and JFK 1) The distance to the airport is about 30 miles. 2) As per FAA there will be 300-400 airplanes daily - hey, this is Newark airport - 2nd busiest airport in NYC. A. It all depends. Do you like to watch jets fly overhead? Are you married? If so, what does your wife think? I'd love it. Okay, now for the real answer - I don't really think you are going to be bothered if they are at 6 to 8,000 feet. To give you an idea, that's at least a mile away - vertically. I could go into a better explanation, if I knew the airport, and some idea of where the house was in relation to it - distance and direction from it.. Hope that helps.
