Intelligence is an umbrella term used to describe a property of the mind that encompasses many related abilities, such as the capacities to reason, to plan, to solve problems, to think abstractly, to comprehend ideas, to use language, and to learn. There are several ways to define intelligence. In some cases, intelligence may include traits such as creativity, personality, character, knowledge, or wisdom. However there is no agreement on which traits define the phenomenon of intelligence agreed upon by a majority across the various concerned disciplines. Theories of intelligence can be divided into those based on a unilinear construct of general intelligence and those based on multiple intelligences. Francis Galton, influenced by his cousin Charles Darwin, was the first to advance a theory of general intelligence. For Galton, intelligence was a real faculty with a biological basis that could be studied by measuring reaction times to certain cognitive tasks. Galton's research on measuring the head size of British scientists and ordinary citizens led to the conclusion that head size had no relationship with the person's intelligence. Alfred Binet and the French school of intelligence believed that intelligence was an average of numerous dissimilar abilities, rather than a unitary entity with specific identifiable properties. The Stanford-Binet intelligence test has been used by both theorists of general intelligence and multiple intelligence. From Wikipedia under the

I find it's hard to determine where my thoughts are coming from, my heart or my intellect. And, to say "just think from your heart" does not help. I need to know how you know. If you stop and ask your self, "am I thinking for my heart?" How do you know it is from the heart? Thank you So far I have 5 top answers but only one can win. You all are hiting the nail on the head. Your answers are making sense to me. The moving center as well as the instinctive center are approximately 27,000 times faster than the intellectual center. And the emotional center is approximately 27,000 times faster than the moving and instinctive centers. So 27,000 squared means emotions occur just under 900 million times the speed of our thoughts. Back to self observation. Did you notice any inner dialogue to your "thinking" (let's say "conclusion". thinking IMPLIES intellect)? Then it was more than likely your intellectual center. Answered by Minski - Thu Jul 23 14:32:52 2009 How important is intellect level in relationships? Q. I was thinking about it today; Two people can get along great but what if one of them is much more intellectual and brainier than the other? Would this affect their relationship in the long run? Asked by Candii86 - Wed Feb 25 15:16:11 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Well I consider myself an intellectual person and I can tell you that a relationship can work with someone "intellectually challenged"... in the short run. I had a girlfriend who was beautiful but shall we say.. not the brightest. We were together for 4 months and we had fun all along, but while she pretty much partied all her free time, she didn't care too much about the things I did. We never could have a good conversation about important matters in life because her mentality was very limited. I can say that while I put a great emphasis on the matters that rouse my brain, she concentrated on the materialistic things. We were good together in the short run but she wasn't the woman I imagined my life with. Answered by Miphee - Wed Feb 25 15:25:28 2009 What is the best way to improve intellect and intelligence?
Q. When I was young, I always had found my thinking to be so much complex than everyone else. Now that growing several years older, I have noticed the gap between my and others is narrowing. How can I improve the depth of my thoughts? I am have not yet reached my prime age, so age isn't a factor, and I am not looking for learning facts. I want faster learning and more complex thinking. But it is important to keep up on current affairs. In the 60's and 70's, the teachers tried to drill into our brains things from 200 years ago, more then they did, as far as current affairs are concerned. You'll need to read a lot to keep in the mainstream. With the age of computers and more electronics, it's a different world. You have to study to stay in the game. P.S. You mentioned age is not a factor and you want to learn faster. My answer still stands. Herbs, exercise. If your body and brain stays healthy, so does your memory. Being able to read and retain it, is the key.
