A. if you want to build your own house, but don't know what a hammer is or what it's for, then you have a problem. you're not ready to build your own house. similarly, if you've mastered addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, then it isn't that hard. but if those basics give you trouble, then you'll have difficulty with algebra. however, "intermediate" suggests it's not a first course in algebra, so you might want to verify what, if any, prerequisites there are.
