how do you feel that bus and jeepney drivers in our country are earning more than middle-level executives in ?
Q. smaller firms? considering that the executive is a college garduate.one bus driver interviewed on TV said he makes more than 1,000 pesos a day. i also overheard a jeepney driver saying that he has already made 700 pesos excluding the 'boundary' or daily rental and his working hours for the day is not yet over, several trips more. i also wonder why the drivers' lives seem more miserable than the executives despite their bigger income which is tax-free.

A. That how it is in PI. Your college degree is no assurance for a better life, better future due to government's inaction in the first place, present or past admins. unfortunate to say that most kids are not eager to finish their studies because finding a job is very competitive and will earn you minimum at 380? pesos -tax still to be deducted. or contractual which is even lower than minimum. being a jeep or bus driver, their lives seem miserable because they spend their earnings on drinks, women, gambling, etc. instead on their own family. and sad thing is people tend to look down on them because of the general impression of the society. but the bottom line is they still make more money than most of us.

Q. Here in the Philippines, the jeepney has been its trademark vehicle or transportation. I sometimes take the jeepney going to my office, and coming back home. Although the ideal Philippine jeepney may look colorful and attractive in all its bright and festive colors, in reality, and this is true for public commuters, when boarding a jeepney, you experience the worst of Filipinos! Jeepney drivers and their "conductors" call and shout and yell the name or names of the destinations where the jeep is heading, much to the discomfort of your ears. They fill the jeepney with passengers to capacity! Most times you'd find yourself squeezed by your fellow passenger from both sides, you all look like sardines packed so tightly in a can! A. It's not a matter of being discourteous. You're just not used to the "masa" since you only take the jeep "sometimes." The "barkers" call out where the jeep is heading in a pila--the driver is in line and pays someone who's in charge--so the jeep has to be filled to the max for the driver to recoup what he paid for. Passengers who need to get off somewhere near tend to sit closest to the "door" because it's more convenient to get in or out. People who will travel the whole trip may opt for the inner part since they're staying the whole trip. There are also courteous people who will "kandong" others if the jeep is full just to be able to fit another who's eager to get to work or home.
