Should I follow up on a job application even when there are no jobs currently available?
Q. I have applied at several stores just to be able to apply and just get my name and resume out there for consideration. It is my first job. The companies I have applied to do not currently have any open positions. I have read all over to follow up on an application, but most of these refer to an actual available job position. If they are not hiring, should I still follow up on my application?

A. The work from home jobs that aren't scams actually require work on your part - and if you're in need of money soon then you're likely to be sorely disappointed in any of those as well. Most of the legit opportunities out there take time to build - so if someone makes an outrageous claim of income it probably isn't true ( and those that are true sure didn't make that kind of money when they first began ). Time & effort required - but do your own research on what is best for you, don't take the advice of myself and others as gospel from this type of public website. Do you HAVE to apply for every available job on job seekers?
Q. I'm going to uni in September & was looking a temp job until then, I just signed on to JS recently and most personal advisors just searched for temporary employment. The last lady I spoke to however, said that I needed to apply for every available job I was qualified to do & gave me about 7 application forms for all kinds of jobs (most of which are those which others don't want). Also I don't want to go to lots interviews for permenant employment because as soon as I say I can only commit for a few months I don't have a chance & if I lie that means a bad reference due to quitting on short notice! A. i think you encountered one of the rare people at JS who actually give a toss. you dont have to apply for every job you are qualified for. tbh they will probably let you slide if you dont apply for anything in the first 6 weeks, and then they will clamp down on you a bit. as a rule i would just make sure you have applied for at least 1 job betwwen your signing on days, if it gets to intereview, just be honest and tell them your situation, they probably wont give you the job but at least you had an interview so that will keep JS sweet. if you are unsure look up your local citizens advice beauro, they will tell you what your rights are

Check at a training institute if u can help in coaching . Recently we had one of the factories in our town go into recession putting 250 people out of work. (that's a lot of people for a small town). Most of the jobs i have been applying for i have been over qualified for- but at this stage i think i will be happy to take any job as long as it means there is regular money coming in for me and my family.
