The name Johnson is an English, Scottish, Swedish or Irish patronymic surname of Anglo-Saxon language origin. The name itself is a patronym of the given name John, literally meaning "son of John." The name John derives from Latin Johannes, which is derived through Greek Iōannēs, from Hebrew Yohanan meaning "Jehovah has favoured". The name was extremely popular in Europe since the Christian era, as a result of it being given to St. John the Baptist, St. John the Evangelist and nearly one thousand other Christian saints.

Where does Jimmie Johnson need to finish in the next 2 races to lose the championship?
Q. If something happens to Jimmie Johnson in the next 2 races where does he need to finish in order to keep the championship.

A. He would have to win one race and come in second in the other to guarantee the championship. If Gordon wins both remaining races and Jimmie is second in both Jeff will be champion.

What do the people who are drafting Calvin Johnson extremely high expect him to do this year?
Q. I personally would be surprised if he could match Jerry Rice's rookie year of about 900 yards and 5 TDs. The converted DB Furrey caught about 100 passes last year and Roy Williams is a top 20 WR. What exactly are you expecting Calvin Johnson to do that you take him so early in the draft? I'd personally rather go with a high upside #1 WR such as Mark Clayton or Braylon Edwards in the 8th round and spend the 6th rounder on something other than a WR (if there's a good RB left, I'd probably go that route or I might go for one of the top tier QBs if they are left or for one of the top TEs).

A. Didn't you see him walk on water the other day? If he produced Roy Williams-like numbers his first year, that would be a success. I agree: 900 yards, 5 TDs is very realistic. Few receivers ecclipse the 1000 yard barrier in their rookie year. The odds are clearly against him. People buy into the hype. I prefer proven commodities, and preferably ones not on the Lions. They are not exactly the model of consistent performance. He was the 18th WR overall taken in our draft. I just about fell out of my chair. What are these people smoking?

A. i think i means diddly squat... and before i state why lemme say i'm a sports fan who HATES nascar but follows the sport tangentially because its covered on ESPN where i mainly get my sports from... anyways... 1) the best drivers get the most money/sponsorship for cars/equipment etc... to me, that not fair... to ask, say, the 35th ranked driver (who has less resources) to compete fairly against a driver with more backing isn't a leveling playing field... 2) this "chase for the cup" nonsense negates too much of the pre-cup season... last year i believe casey kahne won the most races yet nearly didn't make the field... uh, that's a problem... why remove the order established throughout the year and make only the last 10 races count more?… [cont.]
