How to hel kids when there is a language barrier?
Q. am currently in India. And want to volunteer in a shelter for street kids and kids of sex workers. I deeply want to help them but there is a language problem between us...They dont know english and I dont know their language...However by their smiles I know they do enjoy the company I give them. The problem is that I don't know what to teach them or help them with because of my lack of their language knowledge...So I am trying to find something creative, a way to teach them something, to help them somehow...I wish I could talk to them I am sure they have wonderful things to say and I really want to get to know them! What to do and how? Any creative ideas?

A. Getting a translator would be the easiest solution. But if you can't talk, perhaps another medium of communication? They say a picture is worth a thousand words - perhaps you can get some kind of art program going - drawing, music, acting? You still might need a translator to explain the concept, but art can communicate without words sometimes.

How to help with kids with fear of getting hit by a baseball?
Q. What is the best way to encourage kids when they fear baseball. I have a team of kids 9-10 that seems to be affraid of being hit, again, with a baseball. How can I help them to cope with this?

A. I was scarred when I was young. I took one on the hnd and it broke several fingers. It was from my coach and not another youngster. When I came back I was taught how to properly turn in and take it on the back side. My coach also started using white tennis balls everyso often and he would hit me. I soon realized that it didn't hurt that bad. Ya, they were tennis balls! By the time I got into high school I had adjusted and it didn't matter if I got hit. I developed the Lenny Dykstra method. To get on base no matter what the price. I'm that old. And, I'm sure your kids won't know who he is. Thy the tennis ball thing. Then let them know it may hurt to get hit, but it feels good to get on base.

How do you get your kids out of the habit of coming to your bed in the middle of the night?
Q. My kids are 8 and 10, and almost guarenteed, every night one or both of them end up in my bed sometime in the night. Even if theres no storm (which would be understandable). I think they are getting too old to do that. Espeically, cuz sometimes after a night of passion with my husband, we fall asleep naked. Well, thats just WRONG for kids to crawl into bed with us like that. And it also puts a damper on morning sex, which we both enjoy, but often can't cuz of "little company". I want to get them out of that habit. Is there a best way to handle that, or should I just let it go and be sure to put some clothes on after the passion is over? A. I am a mother of ten kids and I have been married for 16years. My husband and I are very lucky to still have such a healthy sex life but it is something we make time for and work hard at. As a result our bedroom is out of bounds to ALL of my kids including our two eldest who no longer live at home. It is an unwritten rule in our house that none of the kids come into our room without permission and even then we will generally get whatever they need for them.
