How Close Are North Korea To Becoming A Smoldering Hole In The Ground?
Q. With N Korea now threatening to attack S Korea if they go ahead with trying to sieze the nuclear warheads. Really - how close are N Korea to becoming a smoldering hole in the ground? Is this the begginning of the end? I mean - a World War 3 and people taking sides would be the end right with nukes raining from the sky?

A. I don't think that the US is going to do a damn thing...Obama will want to "talk it out" with diplomacy and platitudes. Even though diplomacy works when both sides have something to gain from it...it is a clear cut reality that you cannot get any government to change it's overall position on something simply by talking about it...especially when the position they are in is advantageous to them...North Korea's launch had as much to do with advertising their wares as it did with expressing defiance. I am sure that Kim Jong Il wanted other nations to know that he has the stuff they are looking for...like Iran, Venezuela and other rogue nations. Now if South Korea feels endangered by Kim and his lot...I wouldn't put it past south korea to… [cont.]

Does South Korea and Japan have the capabilities to defend from North Korea attack?
Q. If North Korea attacked South Korea or Japan, would they have enough defense methods to use? If so, how? Would China be able to control North Korea?
Asked by ic_434 - Tue May 12 21:51:00 2009 - - 7 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Japan officially spends US$50 billion for military expenditure, South Korea spends US$30 billion, while North Korea only has US$5.5 billion. Even if China happens to backup North Korea and starts a full scale attack against Japan & South Korea, it is highly doubtful that they would have a chance even without them having a backup from US and other UN forces.

A. Ok this is how you offically get in, When Music Bank, Inkigayo, ETC ends, a couple of minutes before it ends there will be a phone number, call that phone number(You might not get connected to the number becasue many people will call) If they don't answer your call, try again, if they do then you can go 100% After you call and get connected to the people they will tell you a reservation number, it differnet for all people, so right it DOWN! Then the day of the recording go to the SBS, KBS, MBC buildings where they tape it and before you go in employee's will check you for the number, if you get the number correct you are in!!! Also get to the building a couple of hours before

A. South Korea isn't a developing country. There are few, if any, areas of expertise that their own people can't undertake. Are you prepared to pay? Because you will need to pay for your flights, in-country transportation, health insurance, accommodation, food, security, translators, training, language classes, staff to create the service opportunities and then to supervise and support you in your service, liaisons with the police and local officials, etc. There is a listing of the more-than-30 member organizations of the International Volunteers Program Association (IVPA) that is a good place to find reputable volunteer-for-a-fee programs -- programs where you don't need to have much experience in order to participate, and the placements… [cont.]

What is the cheapest way to call the UK from South Korea?

Asked by Mark F - Thu Dec 4 17:05:23 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Since South Korea is the most internet-connected country on earth, I _know_ she has access to the internet. Therefore, what I'd recommend is that you both get the program known as Skype. It's free, but make sure she downloads it from the British website ( NOT the Korean website! If she downloads it from the Korean website, it'll make her put in a citizen ID number which I bet she doesn't have. If she cannot use Skype, international telephone cards are available at nearly every convenience store for 5,000 or 10,000 won. Just tell her to ask for "gukje jeonhwa" (the "eo" is pronounced like "uh"). Then she can go to a payphone and make a call -- just put in 100 won, dial the phone number on the card, press 2 for English, input the card… [cont.]

How difficult is it to get command sponsorship to Korea?
Q. My husband is an E-7 in the Army and recently found out that he's getting stationed to Korea this February. I've heard from other wives and other soldiers that it's difficult to get command sponsorship to Korea. On the other hand, I know that there's military family housing on Osan and Camp Humphrey. My husband has been deployed for almost a year not too long ago and I don't want my husband to be separated from us for another year. He wants my son and I to come with him but I hear that there's a huge chance that it might not happen. Can someone confirm this information?
Asked by Jasmy - Wed Oct 15 13:32:08 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I was in Seoul Korea for a year in 2002, and then the theater policy (set by USFK) for command sponsorship was E-7 and above was a sure thing and it COULD be made available to E-6s/E-5s after that. Not sure if that is still valid but I would bet it probably is... Check the website for his new unit, and email their POC... either his sponsor, or SGTMAJ, or ombudsman, or Personnel Support Branch... I did my tour unaccompanied, but I ran the Command Sponsorship program for the Joint Command I was assigned to.

Asked by arienmarie - Thu Oct 25 07:52:48 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Sounds like to me you have your account established with the Korean bank and you want to transfer funds to your BOA account. What is the name of the Korean Bank? I can give you wiring instructions. For Example... You will need the Swift Code for BOA which is BOFAUS3N Just in case the ABA Routing number for BOA is 026009593 Your name on your BOA Account Your BOA Account Number. The Korean bank may not correspond with BOA directly so if that is the case, they will have to send the Swift payment order to another large bank in New York that they do correspond with. Then the wire will be sent through the Federal Reserve to BOA using their ABA Number and you will be credited. Let me know if you need further assistance.

What are some hot vacation spots in North Korea?
Q. I'm planning on a vacation to North Korea soon. Are there any vacation hot spots? What airlines fly from Indianapolis to North Korea?
Asked by Mr Average Joe - Wed May 27 12:49:56 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Your odds of getting into North Korean are slim and non. There are no hot vacation spots in the country. They did allow some South Koreans to visit, but then they killed a woman walking on the beach, so that stopped. There is no airlines that flies from the U.S. to North Korea, non. If you are confused between North and South, and you really mean to go to the South, then there are several good places. Je Judo island is a great place, and there are several airlines that will take you to the South. You don't need a visa, you can visit without any problems.

How do I connect to the Internet in Korea using a Apple MacBook Pro?
Q. I just moved to Korea (Yangdong, Gyeonggi-do province), and I am trying to connect to the internet. No one knows anything about Macs here since everyone uses windows. Please help me! They told me I am unable to connect because I have a Mac, but that can't be true, can it?
Asked by Amy P - Sun Aug 31 20:10:33 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Apple computers can connect on any type of network. All the network settings for Mac are in the System Preferences under Networking. If you can find anyone who knows a little beyond the basics of Windows, they should be able to look at that panel and help you. Still, here's what you can try on your own: If you're trying to connect wirelessly, make sure that Airport is turned on, from there your Mac should actively try to get you on wireless networks it sees when you use Safari or check email. If you're still not getting anything, in the System Preferences/Networking make certain the drop down list says 'Configure: Using DHCP'. If not, change it and save your settings. Good luck. Enjoy the kimchi.

What is the cheapest/best way to move personal belongings from the United States to Korea?
Q. My family and I will possibly be moving to Korea. While we will have a furnished apartment in Korea, there is still a bunch of still we will need to ship to our new place. Mailing through UPS, and USPS is VERY expensive. Is there another way to get 5 to 10 boxes of personal belongings from the United States to Korea? Any idea of the cost and how long it takes?

A. You can ship by boat through the USPS. It takes 6 to 8 weeks and the boxes get roughed up so you can't ship anything that might break. The prices are much lower than air mail but will vary depending on size, weight and location that you're shipping from.
