Q. Do u know a kumon answer book wid steps and stuff??
Asked by SweetnSourMars - Tue Nov 4 16:00:24 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You are unable to get those online. The only way to get them is to attend Kumon. Also, the answer books do not give you steps. The only thing close to such is the math solution manuals for levels G and above.

A. You choose how much homework you want. Your homework doesn't matter. It is only the work that you do in class and the test that are important. Kumon is VERY hard for most of below university topics, covering it with far more difficulty, and sometimes with much more detail than school. You are required to do 3 digit times 3 digit multiplication before you can do fractions. There are unbelievably hard word problems for equations and fractions. Most of algebra (especially factorization and maxima and minima (including relative)) were taken to extreme. You will NEVER see the kind of factorization problems on a math contest, let alone school work. In Kumon, differential calculus is about the same difficulty as university, but the… [cont.]

A. Well, I don't have any worksheets so sorry. But basically the Kumon Method is learning through repitition. Not to the point where you memorize it, but where you know what you're doing. At lower levels, 1+1 and 2x3 are to sharpen your skills so that you're insanely fast when it comes to those. And higher levels where they start to teach you hard stuff is where the method kicks in. Basically, to learn it, they'll give you an example. you follow the example step by step You fail the worksheet, they make you repeat it. Instructor teaches you how to do it. No better way to learn than through your own mistakes. Take worksheet again. Fail again. This time instructor helps you hammer in fine points. Take worksheet again. Pass. Make you repeat.… [cont.]

A. What I would do is find a time when both your parents are calm and are willing to listen ( dinner). Then I would tell them that Kumon is not helping me at all, and have you (your parents) seen any improvement in my work/ grades. Then I would tell them that I would like to have a tutor ( my math teacher is my tutor) or go to another learning certer (sylvan, ect) I would tell them that If I had a tutor you (your parents and the tutor) could decide on how much to pay the tutor. From my personal expierence, it is usally only an hour long session, and about 2 days a week. I only have 2-3 worksheets that I need to compleat by the next session. I would get more one on one help, and It would probabily be cheaper. Than ask them if they will… [cont.]

Kumon help...Application of Equations?
Q. This year a kindergarten class has 360 children, a 20% increase over last year. There was a 10% increase in the number of boys and a 40% increase in the number of girls. How many boys and girls were there each at the kindergarten class last year? [Sol] 110/100x + 140/100y = 360 120/100(x+y) = 360 (I've tried so many times, but i just can get the answer. \Can someone please help me out with the steps?)
Asked by Sweet.Roses - Wed Jun 25 14:08:14 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. First, understand how those two equations are derived. The problem gives you two pieces of useful information. Let x denote the number of boys and y denote the number of girls in the class LAST year. Since there was a 10% increase in boys and a 40% increase in girls, you can set up the first expression as follows: 1.10x + 1.40y = 360 This basically says that after a 10% increase in boys and a 40% increase in girls from last year, the resulting class consists of 360 children, which is consistent with the information. Knowing that there was an overall 20% increase in the class size from last year, you can set up the second expression: 1.20(x+y) = 360 The expression x+y represents the total number of children in the class last year (boys [cont.]
