A. I don't think you can. When I was in that program I just did the questions, you will get them done 10 times faster if you do the questions now.your just wasting your time asking this question and waiting for an answer.

A. If your daughter is good in math, she should stay in Kumon. Although kumon charged at $110/month. It is highly effective. I have seen alot of children benefitting from kumon especially maths. Kumon is a self pace learning centre, which is different from school where everyone learns the same thing. For each topic there are about 10 to 20 sets of worksheet. Each sets containing 10 pages. There is also expected time and the maximum number amount of mistakes they can make in one set of worksheets. This is to train their speed and accuracy. What is Kumon math equivalent to what university year?
Q. I'm wondering what is Kumon Math equivalent to university math in Toronto. On the last level of Kumon (O), we are studying advanced integration (integration by parts substitution, quadrature, etc), application of integrals (area, volume, length of curve, etc), and differential equations. What year do you learn this in university? BTW, calculus is HARD! I've been doing Kumon for a year (since grade 8) and it is hard. I want to quit, but I'm close to finishing. Should I finish it? It's pointless, I won't even need this if I don't take a lot of math in university. Thanks for all your answers.

A. That would all be learned in an intro to calculus course in Year 1. If you are taking Engineering or Physics, you will be learning about vectors and the third or forth dimensions which is alot harder than what you learn in Kumon. I would give up if I were you, you all everything you learn in Kumon in 1 year of university.

A. yes you can still go. I'm an employee at kumon and there are a few kids that have their parents go to so they can help their kids with their work. I'm pretty sure that they will take anyone as long as you pay them btw. if your still hesitant about going, its nothing to be ashamed about. you want to get better at math so you should go. a year at kumon can really make a difference, trust me, ive seen it happen before.

Any good programs for kids that are good in math?
Q. My 7 year old, who is in grade 2 is really good at math but is bored at school-saying it's too easy. Does anyone know of any good programs for kids who are good at math? I live in Toronto, Canada. A. A few years ago my daughter was getting really frustrated with the easy, repetitive work they were doing in math at school. A friend told me about Spirit of Math and I have to say that we've been really happy with it. It is really well thought out and the work is very challenging (sometimes I don't know the answers!). There is a fair bit of homework and sometimes my husband has to help her with it but she enjoys doing it. I think there are several locations around the Toronto area.

A. It can help, particularly if your child is being educated through a state school... but don't be too pushy as your child will end up resenting it and will push back against it. I'm so awful at maths, that I was quite pleased when the teachers said my son has a real empathy for maths and science... I briefly looked into Kumon and it looks like a good program but only if your child is genuinely interested... I see so many mothers pushing their children into everything other than having a childhood... so any out of school activities make sure there is something fun for them to enjoy too.

How fast can you go in Kumon?
Q. I'm told that Kumon is a self directed program for math fluency. I have a 10 year old who can do the math accurately, but I can't seem to get him fast. How long does the program take to help in speed? I'm just told kids have to do these little packets. If they complete them within in a few days, do they move on? A. Well, there is a certain time limit for the levels. The levels go for A to N. They give you a 10 page packet(for level A and B) and a 5 page packet(for level C, D, E, and so on). You are supposed to do 1 packet per day, or unless in level B, they give you 2 packets per each day in the weekend. I got in speed really quickly. I have passed 4 levels in the past 4-5 months.The time limit for the packets vary. it is usually 20-30 minutes per packet. It'll probably take about 2 months for him to get fast. They give you 30-50 packets per level.

A. My child was in the maths scheme for a while until we moved away. She loved it. First of all, the teacher will come and see you and test your child's level - all done very gently and in a way which is good fun. You are then given the first week's booklets. The idea is that your child does one booklet a night as fast as possible. They start off being very easy for the child and gradually get harder. Once a week they attend the Kumon Centre for a bit of individual help and guidance. I can't remember how much it cost - I think it was about 50 every six or seven weeks but might have been less. The one thing to remember is it is not a quick fix programme. A child has to be doing it for about a year before you see any benefit but it… [cont.]

A. I'm not sure of the cost in the UK, but in America it's not cheap, but it's a LOT more reasonable than most tutoring programs (like Sylvan Learning Center). My two younger children are both enrolled in the Math and Reading programs. My daughter (12) has been doing the program a little over a year. My younger son (7) started this summer, after kindergarten. I adopted my children from overseas where they had next to no education before coming to America. My daughter was 10 at the time of adoption, at about a kindergarten level and 2 years later, she is in the 5th grade and doing well. I attribute a lot of this to the Kumon program. A. Yes i was also in Kumon for about 2 years... You learn things sooo fast and you get really good at the things you are practicing. I was able to do multiplication and divition alot better then anyone in my class. BUT it really didnt help me that much in the long run. But it helped me learn my tables very fast. I would do Kumon untill your child learns the skills you want him/her to learn. Then take them out because i was in there for far to long. Kumon is very repetative first they do adding subtarcting multiplying dividing..
