From Google News Search: "kumon worksheets" Where can I get kumon worksheets (without joining kumon center)? Q. I am looking to get kumon worksheets (in sequence) for my kids. Where could I get it. I know there are multiple sites available who give worksheets but kumon worksheet follow an order (The order of moving to next level after another). That's the only reason I am interested in kumon worksheets. There are some initial stage workbooks but not after subtractions (in math). Is joining kumon the only way to get those worksheets? However part of that is your determination to make the kid do the work, and by paying $100/month per subject you are given that determination (dammit, you're doing this because I paid for it!!) and checking in to the Kumon school every week forces YOU to adhere to their schedule. I'm saying "you" as the parent because you're the one who's under pressure, and you have to place that pressure on the child in their own way because it's not their money being spent. (Major rewards have worked for us.) Another "service" is their regular testing and evaluation. My oldest child is in Kumon, but not my younger three. The reason is that my oldest is blazing the trail and after two… [cont.] Answered by Richard H - Wed Mar 14 22:50:03 2007 Can someone explain what is Kumon all about? Q. i have read the info in kumon's website and looked at some of the worksheets. seems to me just like a series of drills like we used to do in school way back when. what's the difference and what is so special about it? The Japanese school system is pretty much a rote-memory deal (remember exactly what the teacher said and write that on the test). The Kumon system is basically a series of very repetitive drills. It works pretty well for some folks, not as well for others. Personally I think it's pretty good, but more than a little boring. Both my kids go to Kumon "cram schools" (like after school classes) in Japan, and it has helped them, especially with math. Q. I have recently started working as an assistant at a Kumon learning center and I am wondering if it is worth the parents' expense. At first look, it seems good--children learning independently at their own pace. But then, on second look, it appears to me that parents are paying for "busywork" in the form of worksheets without any preliminary or supporting instruction. Based on my observaion, the premise is that children will learn on their own: works in theory, but not necessarily in fact. I'll make no more comments until I see some feedback. I'm also an assistant at Kumon, and as someone who's formerly done Kumon as a kid, I can say that it's worked pretty darn well. Math abides by set rules, and repetitive practice of these rules will result in a pretty math proficient kid. Especially at a young age, constant repetition will ensure success in math at older ages as well. Well it did for me, and many of my friends xD Of course, the student must actually sit down, read the examples, understand them, and apply them. A lot of times, since it's independent learning, kids will cut corners and avoid work a lot, resulting in learning nothing. On the other hand, Kumon English was largely useless for me. Being able to write well is presumably the goal of Kumon Language, but repetition… [cont.] Answered by Philip H - Wed Jul 22 00:56:47 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "kumon worksheets" |
