If an independent contractor works in Louisiana for a Texas based company, which state labor laws apply? Q. I am an independent contractor and I was working in Louisiana as a Mineral Title Research Landman for a company that is based in Dallas Texas. I no longer work with this company and they refuse to pay me my last check for the last two weeks of work that I did for them. They claim that I am subject to Texas law and I claim that since we were working in Louisiana, that state's laws apply. Who is right? See if they are allowed to contract their work in LA or even go outside of TX consult an attorney. Sorry to hear about that. Good Luck with everything. Answered by Kselr - Sun Jul 20 12:08:47 2008 Could somebody please explain to me why Louisiana State University is ranked ahead of Oregon? Q. LSU has not looked like a top notch team for the past 5 weeks and the tigers have struggled to beat overrated SEC conference opponents. It seems to me that they are not a better team than either Oregon or Oklahoma. Please explain why do you think they should be ranked No.2? No biased answers please. Felix, you base all of your arguments on false premises. Who are you to say that Tim Tebow is better than Dennis Dixson? You have no crediblity. Oregon's schedule isn't and can't be as hard. Unlike pro teams, few college teams travel very far to play games. Most of the SEC is within a bus trip of LSU and 6 of the other 11 teams are in the top 25. Only Vanderbilt isn't a "football powerhouse" university, so playing in the SEC is tough even when the team isn't in the top 25 (this year).. How many top 25 teams are within a bus ride of Oregon? (the answer is zero) Answered by NOLA guy - Tue Nov 6 18:29:22 2007 Will the Louisiana state police give me a copy of a background check they did on me a few months ago?
Q. i had an old charge that i was having expunged. but i am going through a background check for work and want to know if there are any other charges on my record. if not - can i pay to have another one done? i don't trust these internet sites - i would prefer to get it from the police. Unless they've thrown it out or have gotten rid of it somehow. You can also do a free check on yourself using the website They offer an extensive free public records page so that you can check out the counties, etc that you want. But since you would have to do the research yourself which can lead to missing out on information, I would recommend , they offer statewide background checks for $20. They also offer nationwide background checks for $30.
