Any math trivias concerning decimal, fraction, percentage or even commission?
Q. I really need some. Trivias about math and not just any trivia. I need ones that could either be about decimal, fraction, precentage or commission. It can be any of those 4. Example of a trivia I like is this : When is a billion called a billion? That one is quite challenging. I want trivias like that. If you can't find a challenging one, any ordinary trivia will do as long as it is about either of the 4.

A. but The term 'GOOGOL' was coined by the child of a university math professor. It seems the prof. was using a blackboard in his home to do some calculations. On the board was the #1 followed by a hundred zeroes, upon seeing this, the child commented 'daddy, that looks like a googol'. The largest whole number I believe, unless you include a googolplex, which is a googol to the tenth power. It seems the child who coined the word, which is the # 1 followed by 100 zeroes, was Milton Sirrota the 9yr. old nephew (at the time,1938) of Amer. Mathematician, Edward Kasner, who died in 1955. A. You didn't specify a grade level, so here are some easy ones. The digits of any multiple of 3 add up to a multiple of 3. The digits of any multiple of 9 add up to a multiple of 9. 2 is the only even prime number. The ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter is always the same, no matter what size it is. It's called pi.

A. If you're looking for something to play in a group, then 'Fizz Buzz' is a good one. It can be played at differing levels. Start just by doing 'fizz' pick a times table... say 3s, you start counting - 1st person says 1, 2nd says 2, 3rd says FIZZ, the 4th says 4... so for evey number divisible by 3 the person says fizz also any number with a 3 in it, like 13, 23, 31, 32, 33(Fizz Fizz) 34...63 etc. If some one makes a mistake they're out (or you can have two or three lives to loose if it's children playing). When Fizz is mastered, add in the Buzz that means that you're doing TWO lots of tables eg 3 and 5... so it would count like this 1, 2, fizz, 4, buzz, fizz, 7,8,fizz,buzz...etc. It's even good fun to play at adult parties too... It gets… [cont.]
