Math Teachers - I need help finding some math worksheets to practice on?
Q. I'm taking Geometry online and I feel like I'm not getting enough practice. When I was in Algebra 1, my math teacher would give us these fun, puzzle type worksheets (there was a specific brand, I can't remember) to practice on. I was wondering if this sounds familiar to any math teachers and if anyone knows where I could order some for Geometry? Thanks, but the EDU one isn't it.

What are some practice geometry worksheets?
Q. Right now I'm a freshman in high school and I am in Algebra I. Math has been my weak spot [[i usually make high b's in math, always a point or two shy of an A]] and I am considering taking Pre-AP Geometry when I am a sophomore, to challenge myself as well as be ranked higher in my class. I really just want to start preparing now so I will be successful later. All help is much appreciated. thanks! :)

A. I would suggest to go to a library and get some books on Euclidean geometry. Start looking over shapes, angles, degrees, proofs and theorems etc. If you want something to work/write in, go to a Boarders or Barnes & Knoble- they have a section dedicated to mathematics. And since you'll have all summer for it, you'll go into class knowing what's about to happen. Geometry is a bit different than algebra so it may come easily to you. Something more, go speak with a counselor at your high school and see what they say. Some cities have concurrent-enrollment with their local community colleges. I took a geomerty class one summer to get ahead in high school and it was then counted as units for graduating. Good luck ;0)

Q. I need help doing a math worksheet for AP geometry. Its predictable patterns and i need thenext numbers and the reasons why... here are the problems: 1,4,9,1,6,2,5,3,6,4,9,6,4 ,___,___,___,___. and 2,3,7,16,32,___,___. please help!!! thanks <3

A. I believe in the first problem it is actually 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64 When you are looking for predictable patters first see if all the numbers are increasing by a particular amount every time. Obviously these numbers do not fit this, so you next look to see if they all have something in common (are they all squares, all prime numbers, all odd numbers, etc). Maybe this will help...

Are there any helpful websites for math review student?
Q. I am a community college student just starting to take math. I have been out of high school for 6 years and math never really was my subject. I passed all my high school math courses, only geometry one and algebra one with d's and prayer. Now I'm taking Basic Arithmetic Skills at school. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find some help reviewing things like multiplication, fractions and percents, other than my textbook because I want to have extra practice outside of the text book. Im looking for things like worksheets and practice tests. Thanks to anyone who can help. Helpful answers only please.

A. I teach high school algebra and geometry, and I create all of my own worksheets for class using Microsoft Word. It has a bunch of drawing options, including the ability to draw almost all necessary geometric shapes. Open Word, click on Tools, then Customize, then select Drawing. A row of buttons should appear at the bottom of the screen. There's a box titled Autoshapes that has just a ton of shapes such as typical polygons, stars, and block arrows that you can adjust the size of. You can also use line segments to create custom shapes. It takes a little while to get used to, but since you don't need to create any complex drawings for kindergarten students, it should be user-friendly. If you need help with using this program, please… [cont.]

Geometry/ trig worksheet help!?
Q. My math teacher didn't explain the "angle of depression" very well, nd I don't understand how to do them. Can someone help me with it? Miss pauline is 20 feet tall when she is standing on her desk, and mr Gullen is sitting in a desk talking to her. If the angle of depression from miss pauline to mr gullen is 24 degrees, how far apart are they? bob the physco skater is going to jump from a 50 foot ledge and land EXACTLY 28.87 feet away. What is the angle of depression from the ledge to his landing spot? a serial killer is standing on a cliff that is 2000 ft tall. what is the distance from the bottom of the cliff to the victims if the angle of depression is 10 degrees. Any help would be nice. thank you!
Asked by x3risetofall - Mon May 21 17:55:31 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Angle of depression is the angle below the horizontal. If you draw a picture of the problem, it'll help you see it. In the first case, think of a line going straight out from Pauline's head, horizontal to the ground. Now, draw another line from the top of Pauline's head to the top of Gullen's head. The angle between that new line and the horizontal line up above is the "angle of depression." 1) You don't have enough information in this question to answer the problem. We need to know how tall her desk is (or how tall Mr Gullen is in the chair) in order to solve this. 2) tan x = 50 / 28.87 tan x = 1.73190 x = tan^(-1) 1.73190 x = 60 degrees 3) tan 10 = x/2000 x = 2000 tan 10 x = 2000 * 0.763269 x = 352.65 ft

Does anyone have an explanation to this annoying math problem?
Q. In triangle ABC, BD is a median. CF intersects BD at E so that BE=ED. Point F is on AB. If BF=5, then what does BA equal? I know the answer to this question already, but I can't seem to figure out what properties would make that answer occur logically. This problem also *should not* involve the use of trigonometry, considering how it was on a worksheet of geometry problems. However, if that is the only way to prove this problem, well, an explanation is better than none. [For those who want the solution to the problem: It's 15. But I have no clue what the proof is to get that answer.]
Asked by RandomNormality - Tue Jun 24 15:42:51 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Through D draw a line parallel to CF meeting AB at G. As AD = DC, DG is a midsegment line of triangle ACF. Therefore AG = GF. As BE = ED, DG is a midsegment line of triangle BDG. Therefore BF = GF. F and G are therefore trisection points of AB, and as BF = 5, AB = 15.

A Math Question for a friend?
Q. My friend's daughter is in Geometry...They gave her a Math question, more like a "Birthday Trick"... She didn't have the worksheet, just her daughter's work... It's hard without the actual steps but her birthday is 10/25/90 And this is her work... 10 x 4 --- 40 +13 --- 53 x 25 --- 265 +1060 --- 1325 - 200 --- 1125 + 25 --- 1150 +1150 --- 2300 - 40 --- 2260 x 50 --- 113,000 + 90 --- 113,090 - 10,500 --- 102,590 = 10/25/90 The teacher is asking her to explain how this formula works, or why it works, can someone please help her out! Thanks ;) I understand it's a formula where anyone can plug number in, but SHE needs an explanation for why it works everytime.

A. Given Month/Date/TwoDigitYear ==> M/D/Y Steps: 1. Multiply the month number (M) by 4. 2. Add 13. 3. Multiply again by 25. 4. Now subtract 200 from the last result. 5. Add the date number (D). 6. Multiply the last result by 2. 7. Subtract 40. 8. Multiply the last result by 50. 9. Add the last 2 digits of year. 10. Subtract 10,500. This is what you are doing with the math... Formula = ( 50 x [ 2 x { 25 [ (4 x Month) + 13 ] - 200 + Day} - 40 ] ) + TwoDigitYear - 10,500 I know the above formula looks complicated and messy, so let me break the steps down for you... A. The fact that this girl went out of her way for no reason to contact you, especially in a letter that was personally hand written; means that shes definitly interested in someway. If she has a boyfriend she might just wanna be friends, and who knows ..if things dont work out with him, the "best guy friend" is usually the next in line it seems. But if she really was into her "maybe" boyfriend then I doubt she'd be trying to get another guys attention like this. Either way making new friends and having new experiences is almost always a good thing. So check it out for sure! Maybe she'll be the one to bring you out of your depression..whether shes just a friend or something more =)
