Nounmathematicians
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A mathematician is a person whose primary area of study and/or research is the field of mathematics. Mathematicians are concerned with particular problems related to logic, space, transformations, numbers and more general ideas which encompass these concepts. Some scientists who research other fields are also considered mathematicians if their research provides insights into mathematics - one notable example is Edward Witten. Conversly, some mathematicians may provide insights into other fields of research - these people are known as applied mathematicians. Some notable mathematicians include Sir Isaac Newton, Johann Carl Friedrich Gauss, Archimedes of Syracuse, Leonhard Paul Euler, Georg Friedrich Bernhard Riemann, Euclid of Alexandria, Jules Henri Poincaré, David Hilbert, Joseph-Louis Lagrange, and Pierre de Fermat. Q. More generally, what do mathematicians the world over use for variables? Do they use letters from their home tongue or is their a universal standard? Asked by ne1av1cr - Wed Sep 24 22:41:26 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Well, the most common letter for the variables is x (which is the same with the greek letter chi). So there is no difference. After that they usually use the letters psi( ) and omega ( ). Generally, all the letters of the greek and latin alphabets can be used except for pi ( ). Answered by M K - Thu Sep 25 17:08:39 2008 Why are prime numbers so important to scientists and mathematicians? Q. I'm in computer programming class and my teacher asked me why are prime numbers so important. i know they're important, but why? Asked by Green - Thu Mar 19 19:57:54 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. One area where they are particularly important is in encryption. Because factoring of primes is computationally expensive to perform, prime numbers can form the basis of encryption algorithms. Q. I want to place some theories I created myself for all the mathematical world to see. It's not that I'm a genius or anything. Just a few theories that might help the world. Might is the word. Can you guys provide me a website I could put this stuff in? I can't make a website. It's a hassle and I'd only post 2 theories. Asked by yuri_quijano - Tue Jul 22 08:37:23 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Make your own website, a domain is good to start of. Name your website according to the things that you would put into it like Math theories or something like that. It's up to you. When Mathematicians and people searches on yahoo or google they could easily find your theories on your own website... Here are some of the websites that offers free domains...(you could find other domain websites if you like..there are a lot!!) or this one a blog: https://www.blogger.com/s tart Answered by :) - Tue Jul 22 09:01:05 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "mathematicians" A mathematician is a person whose primary area of study and research is the field of mathematics.
