A. You can't really, but just look over simple equations and before you enter the test (And around an hour or two before the test) eat a banana(s) - It well help you think clearly and get answers faster, due to the energy being released by the bananas.

What are the entry requirements to study maths at cambridge/ oxford/ nottingham universities?
Q. Have any of you studied maths at the above universities? If so, what grades did u get in your GCSEs and A levels? Also, are there any other universities with a good reputation for maths? Thanks :)

A. Entry Requirements for Mathematics at Oxford University: Oxford University is happy to receive applications from students from any country in the world providing that they are studying for, or have already achieved, three A-Levels or other equivalent academic qualifications. In order to be admitted, candidates must show evidence of an appropriate educational background and good standards of literacy and numeracy. However, the University does not have any formal matriculation requirements, and no requirement for any particular subjects or grades at GCSE, though tutors will use these grades as one indicator of academic ability. All applications are considered carefully on their individual merits and tutors consider academic achievements,… [cont.]

Is physics necessary or recommended if I am going to study Maths B?
Q. I was just wondering if I should study physics if I am going to be studying Maths B. Do formula's in physics get used in Maths B? I don't really want to do physics if I dont have too.

A. Ermm...No...not at all... Maths helps physics much more than physics helps maths. Naturally when you get to the mechanics course with resoloving forces and stuff the physics people will have a slight advantage. Other than that, there's really no need to take physics if you're intrested in maths...apart from the fact physics is awesome. :) Regards, Joe

Mathematics is the body of knowledge centered on concepts such as quantity, structure, space, and change, and the academic discipline which studies them. It evolved, through the use of abstraction and logical reasoning, from counting, calculation, measurement, and the study of the shapes and motions of physical objects. Mathematicians explore such concepts, aiming to formulate new conjectures and establish their truth by rigorous deduction from appropriately chosen axioms and definitions.

  • Any author who uses mathematics should always express in ordinary language the meaning of the assumptions he admits, as well as the significance of the results obtained. The more abstract his theory, the more imperative this obligation. In fact, mathematics are and can only be a tool to explore reality. In this exploration, mathematics do not constitute an end in itself, they are and can only be a means.
  • Mathematics is not a careful march down a well-cleared highway, but a journey into a strange wilderness, where the explorers often get lost. Rigour should be a signal to the historian that the maps have been made, and the real explorers have gone elsewhere.
