Good one minute monologues for teens?
Q. I searched online, but I'm not quite sure if those were ever mentioned in plays or published in books. I have a school audition and need two one minute monologues for teens. I purchased a book, but they are all too long. Any help? Please and thank you! No accents please and the character should be a teenager's age.

A. There is a monologue in 'The Crucible' by Arthur Miller that is very good for a teen girl. It is for the part of Abigail and I believe it is in Act 2, Scene 1 (but don't count on that completely). I've auditioned with it before. There are also many monologues in 'Our Town' by Thornton Wilder for the character of Emily that are very good. I suggest going to Barnes and Noble and picking up these scripts. Your acting coaches will be very impressed as well because these are two very well-known (and considered some-what difficult) playwrites.

Q. I am looking for two one minute monologues under one minute preferably from a female teens prospective. Have any good sights or information?

A. Check out Bill Murray in "Stripes." About halfway through the movie, he does a one minute monologue to "motivate" his platoon that I have seen done and it always plays very well. It's very funny! As for female and dramatic, it's not really teen, but Sally Field's monologue from "Steel Magnolias" toward the end is brilliant. Good luck!

Do you know of any good 8-9 minute monologues for a teenage female?
Q. I would prefer the monologue be very dramatic, a female role, and under ten minutes, but not shorter than seven. Thanks!

A. Oh I have one! If you don't mind being a little mentally slow. It's about a girl being raped by her sister's man, and she tells her sis how it wouldn't have happened if she was "normal." Brings people to tears if you do it right. I'll be back with the link.

Do you know of any 8-10 minute "tear jerker" monologues for a teenage girl?
Q. I'm in the forensics club at my school and this year I'm going to participate in the Dramatic Interpretation category. I'm looking for a 8-10 minute monologue, that will really bring my audience to tears. If so, do you know how I can get my hands on it?

A. Actually I don't have a monologue for you but I'm reading a book called: My Sister's Keeper about a teenage girl who was conceived only to be a stem-cell/bone marrow match etc for her sister who has leukemia. The premise is that she doesn't want to donate anything anymore because it's so painful and never ends. Each chapter tells the point of view of those involved. It's really well written and I'm only near the start and have wanted to cry about 5 times so far! The first chapter is the teenage girls and it's brilliant, but you'd need to edit it to include the premise. Personally I'd be blown away to see it played out and keep picturing the chracter like Juno, if you know that film.

Good One MInute Monologues from a play for a male?
Q. I am needing 2 contrasting one minute monologues. They have to be from a play and not a movie or television. I am taking them to the Texas Educators Theatre Association, to audition for about 60 different schools at once. A. Yuppers, I do know: The best resource is the Samuel French Company, an old and reliable firm. The Monologues and such are listed here: When I was in a theatre group I was the person who selected the groups' plays, and I bought most of them from this company. You'll want to bookmark this one. There are others like this around, and there is at least one storefront in L.A. where you can buy full length film and television scripts. But that's not what you're looking for.

Are there any really interesting two-minute monologues that I can perform for my high school drama class?
Q. My final in drama class is coming up this week, and I need a really interesting monologue that lasts at least a minute and a half. I don't really have any preferences when it comes to genres. Dramatic, comic, scary, anything. I just can't find anything original or interesting, and I'm ready to tear my hair out. >o<

A. Matt has a very good opening monologue in Lansford Wilson's Talley's Folly. It is basically Matt directly addressing the audience, telling them that the play will take ninety-seven minutes and he hopes to capture and relate his story properly in that amount of time. While it sounds boring, it is amusing, colorful, and has a rhythm to it that makes it pretty easy to learn.

One minute monologue. Do directors actually know how hard it is to find a one minute monologue? I swear, I'm not making this up as I go along. I found it on the internet. I can even tell you where. You've just got to believe me! {suddenly downcast} You don't believe me. You think I'm not prepared and that I'm just saying whatever comes to mind. Now I'm really not going to get this part. I knew I should've done "The Actor's Nightmare." At least you'd know it was a real monologue. {Pace the floor.} Umm, what can I do? What can I do? I really want this… [cont.]

It has a great range of monlogues, not taken from plays, that are in an easy to understand language. Another good website, that I often use for my auditions, is called artsonthemove.com. This has monologues for young people, women and men in seperate catagories. Good luck with your audition and remember to show a good range in your abilities. Any questions email me.

A. well, some of the best comedy is often about a person's personal life.such as family background or funny stories about yourself? sometimes there is comedy when you make jokes about yourself. that way you are not offending anybody and the humour is light yet funny.plus people have an interst in other people.good luck, i hope it goes well.

A. well, some of the best comedy is often about a person's personal life.such as family background or funny stories about yourself? sometimes there is comedy when you make jokes about yourself. that way you are not offending anybody and the humour is light yet funny.plus people have an interst in other people.good luck, i hope it goes well.
