Monetary policy is the process by which the government, central bank, or monetary authority of a country controls (i) the supply of money, (ii) availability of money, and (iii) cost of money or rate of interest, in order to attain a set of objectives oriented towards the growth and stability of the economy. Monetary theory provides insight into how to craft optimal monetary policy.

Monetary policy is referred to as either being an expansionary policy, or a contractionary policy, where an expansionary policy increases the total supply of money in the economy, and a contractionary policy decreases the total money supply. Expansionary policy is traditionally used to combat unemployment in a recession by lowering interest rates, while contractionary policy involves raising interest rates in order to combat inflation. Monetary policy is contrasted with fiscal policy, which refers to government borrowing, spending and taxation.

Is it legal for a US citizen to sponsor an immigrant thru marriage and receive monetary compensation?
Q. A couple of years ago an immigrant wanted to arrange the marriage of a family member to get ciitizenship in the U.S. I was to receive monetary compenstion for the marriage. Just wondering is this legal?
Asked by igenterprises@verizon.net - Thu Sep 13 11:24:05 2007 - - 13 Answers - 0 Comments

A. NO!!! It is marriage fraud and results in SEVERE penalties. CBP and ICE take this matter very seriously. Our local ICE office actually has one whole group of agents (out of 9) dedicated to investigating this crime. This is a sham way to gain US citizenship and it is also a very popular way for traffickers to bring prostitutes into the country. If someone asks you to do this run, don't walk, the other way. There is nothing good that will come of it when CBP or ICE finds you.

Is it normal to reward a subject monetary while on documentary photography?
Q. In Africa some of the people we come accross do demand for monetary reward before photographing them mainly when you on photo story, their excuse is that, other photographers from other continents do pay them reasonable amount depends on how you cam bagain.

A. Under no circumstances should you ever pay for a story. This is a blatant breach of journalistic ethics and integrity and compromises both the objectivity of the article and the accuracy of information from the subject. In the same way you should never accept payment from a subject, especially if it's in exchange for putting the subject in a better light. If a subject tells you they are being paid by other journalists they are either lying to you or you shouldn't use them. I understand some other countries, I believe Australia is one of them, don't feel this way, but in the US, paying for information is not considered an ethically sound practice and could lead to losing your job if you work for a paper.

Why did God not give any monetary value to a child under one month old?
Q. Leviticus 27:6 And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male five shekels of silver and for the female three shekels. A child was only given a value after the age of one month; boys were worth five shekels; girls three; below that age, (and presumably before birth) they were assigned no monetary value. Does God not value a child before one month of age?

A. best guess: life expectancy ... even in colonial america infant mortality was very high... someone under 1 month was not reasonably expected to live... the same thing is seen today is the US with damage awards in court ... being maimed will get you much more than getting killed...
