Would taped music be a good option for me?
Q. I love to sing and play music. I can't find anyone to get into a band with. All my friends are either in bands or talentless. So would it be a good idea to record the music and sing live with taped music. Would this be a good idea and is it common? Does it depend on the music?

A. The disadvantage of playing with a tape recorder or something like that is that it looks boring - only one person to look at it. You gotta be extra entertaining. Second is, for guitarists especially, is what are you going to do for rhythm? The two options i've seen are a drum machine or a laptop. The laptop is more expensive but you can literally record a full CD quality backing track. Unfortunately, the quality of your sound is completely dependent on house speakers... which could be a bad thing. The best way to go would be getting a rack setup, where you can plug your laptop into... but it would mean a mixer or preamp (virtualizer, perhaps), a power amp, and possibly other effects, too (EQ, compressor, vocal processor, etc). A laptop… [cont.]

What determines how we perceive different types of music?
Q. Music can bring out such strong and mixed emotions from every listener. A listener also appreciates certain music over other. A listener will find some music to be horribly and some music to be great. What determines a listener to perceived a piece of music to be a great work of art? What determines a listener to perceive a piece of music to have no beauty? It seems music has to be structured right in order for a listener to appreciate it. A music with wrong structure, whether is be bad rhythm or bad placement of noted, becomes a burden to listen to. What in our minds determines the structure that music has to have in order to be appreciated? Please explain why. If you find this interesting, please do not forget to star. Thanks. "P [cont.]

A. Consider this: Evelyn Glennie - deaf concert percussionist Beethoven, at the end of his life - was deaf - the music was all in his head. Music does not have to heard to be enjoyed, it can be imagined. You seem to have asked a chicken or egg question. The brain's functionality is affected by music - see link below for more info.

What might be some ways how music affects reading and thinking?
Q. I've taken a survey for school and discovered that people who play music are smarter than and read more than people who don't play music. However, I need to think of some reasons to possibly explain why this is so. So far I have that people who play music have to read music a lot so reading becomes like second nature and also the people who play music have very strong and alert minds because they have to count musical notes and listen carefully. Can you please help me think of just a few more reasons why I might have gotten my results. Thank you!!!

A. Music explains feelings and emotions and extends them minds understanding. Reading extends words and improves understanding and concentration and spelling and goes into detail and shows a persons commitment and understanding to a book.

How do you learn music theory?

A. Well it's hard to say where you're at from what you describe. You say you can read, but not how well. Therefore, let me suggest Practical Beginning Theory, by Bruce Benward. I use it to teach students myself. In fact, I'm so darn nice that I'm going to include the link to the book on Amazon. The second one down is a very good copy ;)

A. The most convenient and secure way is to use an iPod-to-computer transfer program to help you. Many of my friends used Tansee iPod Transfer. It ensures proven fast, entire and safe transfer. The whole process needs just a few simple clicks. Simply install this program on your new computer. When you plug your iPod to the new computer, this program could display all songs and videos on the iPod instantly. You simply select all and click "Copy" button. Done. All your selected files will be copied to your computer completely and safely. Now you can easily add those songs and videos to your iTunes library. It even has step-by-step guide on the whole process: Best luck!

How does a music artist after composing the music play the musical instruments?
Q. Though they invent aesthetically the music (designing), do they themselves play the instruments or instrument players play the music according to the artist's composition? And suppose if the hired instrument player creates a better version of the artist's original composition does the hired instrument player given the credit as well.

A. Haha, it depends on what the composer chooses to do. And no, more than likely the musicians don't get credit on the composition. And usually when a composer writes a new piece, he directs the band, orchestra, etc. to play it as he imagined it.
