Do you think our nation is so polarized to the point where it may divide into two separate nations?
Q. I am 45 years old and I've never seen our country so polarized to this extent. I believe we are headed for a complete separation of our nation into two separate, sovereign nations. I also believe this will be proceeded by a civil war similar to that of 1861-1865. This has far exceeded partisan bickering. We have a huge demographic in this country that wishes to abolish the constitution in it's entirety, not just the second amendment. I do not see any resolution other than separation of our nation or a complete dismantling of our government and start from scratch. What say you?

Why does the United States and other western nations feel it is important to interfere in other nations?
Q. There are events in the western world and actions against human rights in the western world that Islamic, Asian and African nations don't care about. But the old colonisers are once again interefering and trying to prevent nations like Iran, North Korea and Venezuela from developing. Why can't the U.S and its colonising allies just leave the world alone, why do they support one nation in acts against terrorism and sanctions other that have been alleged? When a death sentence is taking place in recent years like Nigeria, Iran or Saudi Arabia and the U.S feels it is their situation and they disrespect values and beliefs but these very nations didn't interfere when elections happen in the U.S or when innocent people were going to get the… [cont.]

A. Because when the colonisation ended they the colonisers felt that they still need to control the economies and media. Anthony Giddens the famous sociologist said "When a country becomes independent, the ex-coloniser will continue to want to economically control the nation". Every western nation including Germany has nuclear energy but Iran and others are not allowed to develop such energy resources as they will not then rely on the west for anything. It is blatant hypocrisy.

How is the nations economy affecting the interest rate of Real Estate?
Q. The most recent economic changes to the Nations interest rates, unemployment, housing, construction and the stock market.
Asked by Dianne J - Sun Apr 20 16:15:36 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. On your main question - The economy goes down hill, people have less money to put in the bank. Banks have less money to loan. Banks get pickier about who they loan to. Banks make fewer loans. Banks need to charge higher interest on each loan to maintain their overall profitability. On your secondary question - The war knocked down the economy and stock market. People were greedy and willing to sign anything to get a dream house. Banks were greedy and willing to loan to anyone to turn a profit. Too much greed causes a plan to blow-up. Houses get forclosed on. Banks lose money. Investors - both private and corporate - lose money and the stock market drops. The market is flooded with forclosed homes. Construction goes down because foreclosed… [cont.]

How did European nations view the American constitution soon after it was written?
Q. Is it true that: "When European nations viewed the fledgling America and their dirty Constitution, it was accused as an extra liberal secular document because it doesn t contain the authority of God ordaining who leads the nation. Instead, power was granted by the people (some blogger). In a way, this makes sense if one thinks about the mindset of that era. Thank you for taking the time to look at my question.

A. Hmmm - - - the US Constitution was an example of thought circulating about 'the enlightenment' and many individuals though aware of 'God' and sincere in their worship were none the less far more Liberal than modern Evangelical Americans who believe one needs the approval of Jesus to pee... Begrudgingly enough Europeans had to agree that the Constitution was a nifty idea. the idea of Nationhood was actually quite new at the end of the 1700 s and Europeans admired America for enumerating rights & responsibilities on a piece of paper. It only seemed to make sence to put words to paper and to sanctify that paper. One could even argue that God approved such preceedings. The US Constitution was not created in a vacume. A. Example: Germany before 1933 was called the Weimar republic, they had 17 parties running in elections, riots in the streets and 15 different governments in 2 years. And they suffered badly from loosing WW1 and from the Great Depression. That gave Hitler the opportunity to be the 16th in government and then to dissolve the laws and make himself dictator.

How can nations be well governed without the need for politicians?
Q. True statesmen are rare. What we have now everywhere are two-bit politicians who do not have the interests of citizens in heart. Most of them are autocratic, corrupt and self-serving. They are the cause of all ills within nations and without. What we need now is a system of government run by citizens without the need for politicians. A government by the people, for the people and of the people -- minus the politicians. Surely, the technological advances we have today can be used to create such a system, if only we take the time to explore this seriously.
Asked by tmanikc - Sun Jul 9 04:17:28 2006 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I keep thinking that governments could be ruled by the people for the people virtually. Let everybody have their say and then let the majority rule. Maybe you could create a government out of a jury type system. You would have a judge that would follow basic rules of good government, you could have "lawyers" present different sides and the the 12 person jury could make decisions. I trust the average person especially if grouped together much more than our politicians. What would be neat if if we could pilot or prototype the idea. Maybe it could be something like Yahoo Answers. People could suggest ideas and then people could vote. It would have to be much different but maybe it could be the Genesis of a new world order!! :)

A. The UN is financed from assessed and voluntary contributions from member states. The regular two-year budgets of the UN and its specialized agencies are funded by assessments. The General Assembly approves the regular budget and determines the assessment for each member. This is broadly based on the relative capacity of each country to pay, as measured by their Gross National Income (GNI), with adjustments for external debt and low per capita income. See link below for PDF of 2009 funding from each country.

A. Well, let's think this through. The Muslims had reached the south of Spain with their conversion by sword. Helped to instigate the whole Spanish Inquisition thing. Spain was making a serious play to become a world leader by way of sea power. Food (specifically meat) was generally rancid (no refrigeration) and the people knew of spices from China/India that could help disguise the "flavor." The Italians had invented the Barde System of banking, the writing of checks and making substantial loans. They'd loaned a great deal of money to the French, the English and the Spaniards and most defaulted on those loans. So, Medici's sent a daughter to marry the French Royal family to forgive the debt. There was the huge schism in the Catholic… [cont.]

Q. I don't need to know every danger of global warming, just the ways it would exclusively affect the rich and wealthy nations.

A. Are there even any effects of global warming that won't affect the poor? I suspect that there aren't any effects where being a richer nation would make it worse or being a poor nation would make it not happen (there are likely to be effects based on location, but if they affect rich or poor nations differently it'll be unrelated to whether those countries are rich or poor).

Q. I've experienced Costa Rican girls going crazy over blues eyes. I've also heard that Colombia and a couple other peoples hold a great value on blue eyes. I just returned from the Philippines where the eyes didn't get much of a response. Do you know of any other nations where girls make a big deal of eye color? It's nice to feel semi famous during vacation :)

A. I don't know. It's probably because blue eyes aren't as common where they live. As for my eye colour -- green flecked with hazel -- I seem to be admired because of them wherever I go. I don't think blue eyes would be appreciated in Lebanon at all. Lebanese people can have blue, green or brown eyes.
