My friend got a new cell phone and gave me her old one. How do I use it with prepaid phone cards?
Q. When my own Cingular contract was complete, I bought prepaid phone cards for my Nokia phone. Now that my friend's Cingular contract is complete, how can I use her old LG G4015 phone with prepaid phone cards, considering that she transfered her phone number to her new phone? Will this involve SIM cards?

A. Call Cingular and they will walk you through the process. If its a pay as you go type arrangement they will issue you a set of codes. Or at least thats the way it works with Tracfone.

How do I transfer the phone book from my old cell phone to the new one?
Q. I had a tracfone that fell and broke. I can not turn it back on and retreive my phone numbers to move them to the new phone. I tried moving the sim card over to the new phone, but the new one doesn't register the old sim card. Is there any way to retreive the numbers from the old phone that doesn't power up by putting the old sim card in the new phone and unlocking somehow? Thanks!

A. Unless you saved your phonebook onto the SIM card, they won't come up on the new phone anyway. I don't know if this is a phone that your purchased at a gas station or Wal-Mart or if it was actually purchased through like Alltel or something, but if the provider has already changed your SIM card you probably won't be able to retrieve anything. If you did save your numbers onto the SIM card and purchased it from an actual cellular service provider, you may be able to take it into them and they may have the software needed to transfer from the SIM card to the new phone.

How do I activate a new phone on my current cell contract?
Q. I am looking at upgrading the cell phone to a Blackberry. If I purchase the phone somewhere else besides my cell phone carrier store, how do I add the phone to the plan? I would like to stop using my old phone and use the new Blackberry instead and simply use the same phone number. How do I change phones?
Asked by eziegelbein - Thu Mar 15 21:49:04 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You should just be able to take the phone to the carrier and have them activate it for you. But their could be some issues with software. Because your carrier may sell their Blackberry's with their software.

What new phone is the best and cheapest to browse with google?
Q. What new phone is best and cheapest to browse with google? Besides the iphone. And are the online services for browsing on phones expensive? Or, what do you think the average amount per month/year is for these services?
Asked by sonicloud1982 - Wed May 7 22:44:30 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. you really need to give more detail. we can recommend phones, but they may not work where you live. are you wanting a full qwerty keyboard, or would you be happy with just the normal pad? some data plans are expensive depending on your use. It might be a smarter idea to just use the internet at hotspots. an att unlimited data plan runs around $99 a month. a very reasonable phone for this is the nokia e51. it doesnt have a qwerty keyboard, but it has wlan so i dont have to pay for data when im near unsecured networks.

Q. I am currently with T-moble and my phone is falling apart as we speak. The keys are breaking one after another. The problem is my dad wont get me a new phone because he thinks the only way to get a new phone is to get another 2 year contract with T-mobile! What is the phone called from the new vodafone advert?
Q. For christmas i want a new phone and i've seen the one i want. Its the touch screen one from the vodafone advert, where a guys at a party and he walks up to the window and by pressing and drawing on the window he fills in the missing letters from the 'motel' sign. Does anyone know the make and model of this phone.
Asked by olliesipod - Tue Oct 28 15:07:14 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Its the BlackBerry Storm. Blackberry are also making a few other new models so it may be best if you look around and play with a few BlackBerry's just to make sure that you do want a BlackBerry and you actually like it and get basic info. For exapmle you can link 10 email addresses to the device, but some email providers actually charge you. You also want a unlimited date plan if your going to be using the internet at all.

Is there a way to buy a new Cingular phone without adding a service plan?
Q. I broke the outside of my Nokia phone that i purchased in January. It still works and makes calls but I want a new phone and not the same one. A. yes at any time Cingular will let you purchase a new phone at the no commitment pricing anytime in your contract and it will not extend your current contract or change anything on your account except for the imei #. just make sure you purchase insurance for an additional $3.99 a month, that way if anything happens to the new phone you can replace it for a $50 deductible. also, make sure when you purchase the new phone have them update the imei # in their system especially if you purchase the insurance, or they will only cover the phone that is showing on your account, also i would recommend going to a cingular company owned store, less problems and less hassles. if you don't know where one is call 611 from your phone and ask a customer… [cont.]

How do I get my phone numbers from my old phone onto my new phone?
Q. I think I have to take it into a Sprint store, but I'm not sure. And should I charge up the new phone right now, or will that turn it on, activate it, deactivate my old phone, and I'll lose all my numbers? My old phone: Samsung A900, new phone: LG Lotus, and I'm with Sprint, if that info helps.
Asked by Peter P - Tue Feb 24 01:57:07 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It's depend where have you save your number.Inside phone memory or SIM card? If you've saved in your phone memory, you've to copy all the number to your SIM card before you replace into a new phone. If you've saved inside SIM since you're using, just insert your SIM into a new phone.

How do I remove my cell phone and number from a family service plan and switch the number to a new plan/phone?
Q. I am part of a family cell phone service plan with Verizon. I want to exit that plan and purchase a 2 year contract with AT&T along with a new iPhone, but also keep my same number. Can anyone help me out and explain the procedure involved?

A. You will need to take a copy of a current bill and go to an AT&T store and tell them that you would like to port your Verizon number to them and they will get everything started for you. If you are still under contract with Verizon then you will have to pay their early termination fees

A. If you have CDMA, then go to Reliance Web-World and write an application to them providing all necessary details like your name, address, old connection number etc etc...It will be done so easily, just call them if you are having any problems... If you have GSM, then no need of writing anything, just insert your SIM card to the new phone !

A. I used to work for Sprint and phone companies usually follow their own market. If you own a phone company and your customers are only picture messaging and not text messaging, than you will most likely produce more picture phones. I am pretty sure if people purchase more text messaging plans with tracfone than you will probably see a full qwerty phone. Also they do not build their own phone and they have to find a company who will produce a phone and let them stamp "TRACFONE" on their and that always is not the best move. Companies who build phones want "name brand" icons on their phone... Before Apple developed iPhone, do you think people would have tried it as fast if Apple released it to Tracfone first??

Q. I have sent a suggestion to tracfone asking them to get a phone with a full QWERTY keyboard. I was told that I have a great idea and that they might work on it. How do I transfer my old contacts from my old phone to my new phone?
Q. I had a Sidekick 3 and the screen went out so that I cant see the screen any more. So I got a new (temporary) phone, the Nokia 1680. I transferred my Sim Card and I don't have my old numbers. I hooked up my SideKick to the computer and I don't see my contacts. Is there a way for me to at least see my old numbers?
