What are the requirements in Oregon for a relationship to be pedophilia?
Q. I have a friend who's X years old and her boyfriend is 3 years older than her, but they are both under 18. I was wondering what the requirements were to consider a relationship pedophilia. I'm not sure if it changes throughout states so I said Oregon because they live there.

A. "Pedophilia" is a medical term, not a legal one, so it's the same everywhere in the world. Pedophilia is sexual attraction to prepubescent children. If your friend is not prepubescent (i.e. she has started her periods) it is not pedophilia. It may, however, be illegal. The age of consent laws have nothing to do with pedophilia. In Oregon the law is in three steps... 1) It is illegal under any circuimstances for anyone, of any age, to have sex with someone under 12. 2) It is a misdemeanor for someone to have sex with a person under 15 if they are less than three years older than them. 3) It is a felony to have sex with someone under 18 if you are more than three years older than them.
