What is the packet full of sprinkled seeweed and something else you add to rice? Or how do you make it?
Q. My friends gave me a packet full of sprinkled seeweed and something else in it to add it to rice and eat. They're brother's wife is Japanese so they went there. And he brought that to his family and my friend gave it to me? It taste good. What is it called? Or how do you make it?

A. If you go to an Asian shop and ask for seaweed sprinkles, they will know what you are looking for... One Japanese name for them is "furikake" another type is "gomashio" There are many different blends, using salt, seaweed, bonito flakes, salmon flakes etc... Here, check out -> It is easy to make your own sprinkles, and that way you can control MSG and other contents, and cheaper too... I like to brush nori with sesame oil and sprinkle with salt, then toast over the stove. keep it moving quickly, so not to burn! then stack up and chop with knife, or some find easier to snip with scissors. In a dry pan, toast sesames with salt until brown and fragrant and they start to pop & jump. Let it cool and mix with your nori. Some like to grind… [cont.]

What is the packet that sticks to the bottom of ground beef when packaged by store? Is it toxic?
Q. I am talking about the little plastic packet that is at the bottom when the ground beef is packaged in styrofoam. Thanks so much!

A. It's there to absorb any liquid (blood) that my leak out of the meat while it's in the meat case at the store. It is made of plastic - the same kind that trash bags are made of surrounding a paper pad. It can't hurt you...unless you eat it. Nothing to worry about.

How to stop my period by carrying onto a new packet of pills?
Q. I have a special event on sunday and so i do not want my period. I am on microgynon and the doctor said to carry onto my next packet. My pill packet ran out thursday morning so i couldn't take my pill thursday. But i got some more pills and started the new packet friday. However on friday my period came on despite me taking the pill, and today, it still hasnt stopped. Sunday is tommorow, if i take a pill tommorow will it stop? What can i do?
Asked by cassie - Sat Oct 25 08:35:37 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The short break must have triggered your period as it would be what you're body is used to now. You can keep taking your pills until the end of this packet, no point stopping now and continuing later. It may or may not stop the period, but its worth a try and continuing on with the pill won't do any harm. I should mention now though that skipping the 5-7 day break every month is ok every few month maybe, but you shouldn't do it too regularly. I've heard it can lead to lead to infertility if done too often. But yes, this time its ok and you can continue taking the pill over the break and just hope the period goes away.

How long will seeds stay good in the packet?
Q. Say I was to buy a packet of seeds now and want to plant them next summer. Would they still be viable?
Asked by Melanie - Sat Sep 16 13:05:53 2006 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Yes, no problem. You want to keep them in a cool place and out fo sunshine and dry. Note on saving your own seeds :- Once your seeds are dry, place them in clean paper envelopes labeled with their botanical name and date, and then seal the envelopes in a glass or metal jar with a rubber gasket. Place the jar in a dark, cool, dry place (an unheated basement room is ideal) or into your fridge or freezer. Only use the freezer if the seeds are for perennials that need a winter cold spell. I keep mine in the cripser of my fridge.

A. Fish Sinigang (Tilapia) - Filipino Sour Broth Dish Can substitute beef, pork, chicken... ingredients: 1/2 pound tilapia fillets, cut into chunks 1 small head bok choy, chopped 2 medium tomatoes, cut into chunks 1 cup thinly sliced daikon radish 1/4 cup tamarind paste 3 cups water 2 dried red chile peppers (optional) directions: In a medium pot, combine the tilapia, bok choy, tomatoes and radish. Stir together the tamarind paste and water; pour into the pot. Toss in the chili peppers if using. Bring to a boil, and cook for 5 minutes, or just until the fish is cooked through. Even frozen fish will cook in less than 10 minutes. Do not over cook or else the fish will fall apart. Ladle into bowls to serve.

Q. I plan to feed it a healthy diet of mostly veggies, fruits, then seeds, but I would like to know how often I need to buy a packet of seed. Also, what is a good serving size of seed per day? Asked by M M D - Sun Nov 1 12:10:20 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You should feed 40-50 percent pellets. 20-30 percent seeds. Then some cooked/table foods and fruits and veggies. Since birds have such a high metabolism they need food always available to them. Make sure you don't give too many high fat foods or seeds and treats and your bird won't usually be overweight. Plenty of exercise is necessary too. Foraging toys are good because they must work for the food. Old food should be dumped (even if not eaten) especially seeds because while the bowl may appear full it might be just the outside of the seed which birds hull. Then fresh foods should be given every day. A coop cup fulll of pellets and a little less of seeds. Then a small pile of the fruits veggies and table foods. Make sure he always has… [cont.]

Can I cook food in a foil packet on top of a gas range?
Q. I don't really want to turn on the oven or drag out the grill, but I love the idea of cooking in foil. If I make a foil packet with two sheets of heavy duty foil and place it on top of the gas burner, and keep it on low, wouldn't that cook food just fine? I use a food thermometer to make sure temps are right. Thanks.
