What is the difference between Packets Sent and Packets Received?
Q. I have high speed and was wondering the difference between the two and how it effects how fast my computer runs. I have noticed that the the sent packets are sometimes less then received. If this effects the speed of my laptop, is there anything i can do to make it run faster

A. Sent/received ratio is not equal (almost always). For instance; sending a request (fetch) for a webpage (URL) is small, but the webpage itself could be huge, when including cookies, foto's, etc. Try these settings in order to cut back (or eliminate) some of these cookies: internet explorer: Tools> Internet Options> Privacy> Advanced: here check 'Override automatic...'; 'Allow session cookies'; 'Allow 1st party cookies' & 'Block 3rd Party Cookies'. *** FIREFOX: Tools> Options> Privacy: Check 'Accept Cookies from sites' & Un-Check 'Accept 3rd Party cookies' Firefox add-on's Flashblock: https://addons.mozilla.or g/en-US/firefox/addon/433 Add block plus: https://addons.mozilla.or g/en-US/firefox/addon/186 5 "NoScript" for Firefox… [cont.]

How can I sniff packets and recreate the webpage that another computer is viewing?
Q. Is there any software that can sniff network packets and use the received packets to recreate what the webpage another user is browsing looks like in real time. Dalton, you have no idea what you're talking about. This is my unsecured wireless network and I want to see what others are doing on it who have no permission to use my network.
Asked by cheesycow5 - Wed Jul 16 01:04:18 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. you can use wireshark it's free open source. When you capture the traffic it will show a http get packet with the request web site URL. It's probably easiest just to go to the website yourself to view it rather than recreate it. That and I don't know how to recreate the site 8^) Keep in mind, even if it's your connection, some ISPs prohibit the use of packet capture software.

How many packets of ketchup do you think are thrown away and wasted each year?
Q. I mean, come on... there's like a dozen packets of ketchup in my fast food bag that doesn't get used and just thrown away. Is the ketchup industry losing money from this? Hajra A - You are wrong. The statistic you quote is regarding trash, not just ketchup. You might wish to go back to the website you listed and look again.

what are packets on my internet connection and how does that effect my speed?
Q. There are packets on my internet connection and the fewer there are the slower my connection. My real question is does this really effect my connection and how do I get them higher if I reset my connection? Do I even need to concern myself with them at all?
Asked by Tag G - Tue May 22 12:46:29 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. your packets do correlate to the speed of your net. but its hard to draw any conclusions from them. its not like you can change your packets to change the speed of your internet. theyre more like indicators, or something to look at to confirm a net problem. if you want a true net speed test.. try www.2wire.com or www.dslreports.com but as for trying to change or if you are having problems with you connection, try resetting your router or modem if you have them, and if not those.. its most likely the service provider. they can reset your connection if you call customer service.

How many 1oz packets of Coffee-mate do I need to equal 2&1/2 cups Milk to work in a Hamburger Helper box diner?
Q. I only have 1 3/4lbs of hamburger, a box of Stroganoff Hamburger Helper, and 12 1oz packets of Coffee-mate coffee creamer, and water. Is there any way I can make this emergency diner kit work?
Asked by oshea - Tue Apr 21 20:32:04 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I agree with the other poster - no coffee mate. It has a sweet taste and will make it taste weird. If you have a can of soup like cream of mushroom/celery/chicken you can add that in and about half a can of water or just use plain water. Your kicking up the sodium levels through the roof, but you are probably hungry.

Were Walkers crisps Cheese and Onion and Salt and Vinegar originally in different coloured packets?
Q. I remember in the 80s (mid 80s) snacking on some crisps which WERE walkers. My brother and I would always enjoy the BLUE packets which were Cheese and Onion but one day we opened them and YEUCH, they were Salt and Vinegar! So did I imagine this or did they actually change colour? I know there has been some issue on this matter before but I am not entirely sure. Walkers's website actually stated in an FAQ page that they had always been their current colour state and had never been swapped around. Any information will be appreciated, thanks!

If mayonnaise packets in fast food restaurants contain egg ingredients, then wouldn't the egg spoil?
Q. Unless the packets were refrigerated?

A. They are vacuum packed. Anything that is vacuum packed properly can go without refrigeration. That is how they ship those steaks that you can buy online or on TV and that's why food in cans stays fresh.

Why do the packets on my wireless router keep resetting to zero everytime my computer turns off?
Q. My router is always on and it is consistantly sending and receiving packets, however, everytime my computer goes into standby mode or I turn it off, I have to wait until my computer receives enough packets to be able to get online again. Shouldn't I be receiving thousands of packets the second I turn on my computer?
Asked by Gregg L - Tue Feb 20 04:14:12 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Depending on the router or/and ISP modem.. yes and no... Some modems have to detect the computer and since the modem is plugged into the router, it takes little longer (totally guessing)

What do you think of the morbid pictures that are apparently going to appear on cigarette packets now?
Q. It says: Graphic pictures of throat cancer and rotting teeth are to appear on cigarette packets from Wednesday to illustrate the health risks of smoking. Among the other images smokers will see are rotting lungs, a corpse in a morgue and a body cut open during surgery. Do you think this is necessary? Why or why not?
Asked by cosmicmoon - Wed Oct 1 07:14:45 2008 - - 16 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It's utterly pointless...a few weeks of morbid pictures arent' going to stop people. You have to be willing to quit, ready to quit. I am a smoker, and I have recently cut way back in efforts to quit. It's because I was ready to, and 6 months ago, had there been morbid pictures on the packages, I'm sure my friends and I would have just laughed at them...maybe even collected them. Again, just pointless. When you are a smoker, you KNOW what they do to your body. You don't need a picture of it.

Why do police departments charge to get application packets?

A. If you want a job in Corrections, Department of Corrections in Alabama is taking applications, they will even mail you one. Most Departments charge as paperwork involved to actually handle and process a packet would be. You would be surprised at how many people sign up and drop out with a job in 5 mo.. Many Departments test once a year or 2 or 3.
