A. It depends where you came from and if it's off peak season but try Bantayan Island or Malapascua Island in Cebu or Panglao Island in Bohol or Camiguin Islands in Northern Mindanao. (--,) Check out their websites: enjoy! (--,)

A. I know when I went overseas a couple years ago, AAA did money exchanges so you could have the correct money when you got to where you were going. I don't know if they still do that or not. Check it out! Hope this helps!

We are living in Dipolog, Philippines and need to convert US dollars to pesos. What is the best way?
Q. There seems to be different rates for converting US dollars to pesos, such as better rates for newer dollar bills than for old dollar bills. Here there is even a black market for converting dollars to pesos. To make it worse the US dollar will always get weeker as industry moves from the USA to China. But that's another story where USA politicians have failed us. We need to know how do we get the best rate for our hard earned dollars.

A. exactly how much are you trading? meaning the dollars you need to convert? if you have more than $5k you might get a better rate depending on your haggling abilities and bank relationships, if you are a valued client of a local bank here in the Philippines, you have a better chance of getting a higher rate. black markets, they generally buy your dollars at a lower rate, because they have nowhere else to sell those dollars than in the bank so they get their profit by buying your dollars at a slightly lower rate and sell that same dollars maybe 5 or 10 centavos higher to the bank. a deduction in the dollar peso conversion for old bills usually happens in black market or local money exchange dealers. these normally doesn't happen in banks… [cont.]

A. Below are just a few of the challenges that you may face. Imported motor vehicles are subject to U.S. safety standards, bumper standards, and air pollution control (emission) standards. Most vehicles manufactured abroad that conform with U.S. safety, bumper, and emission standards are exported expressly for sale in the United States; therefore, it is unlikely that a vehicle obtained abroad meets all relevant standards. Be skeptical of claims by a foreign dealer or other seller that a vehicle meets these standards or can readily be brought into compliance. Nonconforming vehicles entering the United States must be brought into compliance, exported, or destroyed. Both the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Environmental Protection… [cont.]

Is there a way to transfer Kuwait Dinar to Philippine Pesos, and avoid the declining exchange rate?
Q. The Kuwait Dinar has lost value against the Philippine Peso for the past three years. How can an oil rich countries currency loose value against an relatively poor country? A. Currency speculation is very complicated. The Phillipines has a floating currency and kuwait's currency is a weighted currency basket approach (and I expect its heavily weighted with US Dollars, which are declining). The value of a currency is based on the demand for that currency and to some extent the risk of accepting that currency and having it be worth someting in the future (the later being an issue in inflationary countries which Kuwait and Phillipines are not). Additionally, the relative risk of investing in Kuwait versus the Phillipines can be reflected in the currency value as well. Kuwait is losing 'value' relative to the phillipines because they have tied their money to the US Dollar and the Euro (and a few others). The global… [cont.]

Q. Does anyone know where I can purchase Argentine pesos with Pounds in London? I prefer to change here because there will be hard to get rid of the Pounds, they usually accept Euros and dollars to buy Pesos only. I don't see the point of paying commission twice by buying Euros or Dollars here first and then exchange again in Argentina into pesos. Thanks.

A. By making use of the link that the previous responder provided, we find that 1000 Colombia peso is about US$0.51 (US$1 = 1,940 Colombia pesos). You were using the exchange rate for Mexican pesos, which is an entirely different currency. For 51 cents, I would keep your note for a souvenir. It isn't worth trying to convert - Between the conversion rate and the commission that a currency exchange will charge you, you would get nothing for it.

How to convert US dollars to Philippino pesos?
Q. Why must I haggle with a bank in Dipolog, Philippines for the best rate for converting to dollars to pesos? Isn't there some simpler way of electronically transfering from one to another. Can I transfer by wire, from the US, dollars to a Philippine bank account and have it automatically change into pesos at the best rate?
Asked by Robert B - Wed Aug 8 15:11:19 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. They don't want to give you the best rate so they can pocket the rest, plus their "service fee." You pretty much answered your own question. HAGGLE with them. I'm sure, just like anywhere else, there are many other banks looking to get your business. Now, you did not specify how much money, but of course the more you have the more power you have to negotiate.

A. Assuming that they are the current peso notes, nearly any currency exchange will buy them. They do need to be the current types, though. All previous types are no longer redeemable. For photos of all current Argentine banknotes: Select Billetes y Monedas from the menu at left Select Emisiones Vigientes from the sub-menu (you might have to select it a second time to get the page to come up) Select Billetes from the web page
