Why does the Philippine government have a filter on the internet? What are they hiding now?
Q. First, this has nothing to do with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as I have no interest in rehashing the sensitivity of her presidency. I fail to understand why in a democracy, that freedom of speech is filtered? (not talking about pornography either as that is not my issue) Why can we not express opposing views via blog? Why do the Philippine people not march on Congress as if they can hold hearings on text messaging, then why not on the internet and allowing all people access to dissent?

What are your wishes or suggestions to make Philippine Travel to be a real unforgetable experience?
Q. Many travelers come from thousand miles away to fly to Philippines. They made extra effort to have the quality time to spend vacation with their love ones, old friends, and new friends. To explore the Philippine cultural promotions and warmest hospitable people, my friend realizes from his last travel was that a hundred dollars will not go far anymore. He becomes frustrated from touring distance places that takes hours and mentioned how inconvenient to reach these places because of insufficient transportations. Contrary to this, He is in the Philippines for less than 2 months, he just love the country and the people.

How does Philippine English different from American English besides accent?
Q. I have been taking English conversation lessons on Skype everyday. The instructors of them are almost serving students of the University of the Philippines. They are all cheerful and excellence, and there are many people who speak English with few Philippine accent among them. I think there would be some differences between Philippine English and American English but I don't realize them at all since I am unskilled at English conversation. Would anyone tell me about the differences of them if knew that? And I am happy if you also correct errors in this composition.

A. Your question could very well have been aiming toward the British, instead of the Philippines; or Canadians, Australians, or Singaporeans, etc. The answer to your question is --- English language has the same grammatical rules and vocabularies all over the world; the things that are different from place to place are : 1. Pronunciation/accent 2. Meaning or use of the word --- example, what was called as candies in USA is called sweets in UK, cookies - biscuits; elevator - lift, etc. In the Philippines, most people say 'canteen' when we would use the word 'cafeteria' in the USA. My friends would come to US and ask to use the 'comfort room' where we would direct him to the 'bathroom' .. However, you need to know that the Philippines had… [cont.]

What is the best Philippine Tourism Website?
Q. Currently, what do you think is the best Philippine Tourism Website out there and why? If you believe that all the current ones are not that good what do you suggest should be done & how can people (especially Filipinos) be proactive in promoting & helping out?
Asked by J@ps - Wed Jun 11 12:52:10 2008 - - 6 Answers - 1 Comments

A. The is good; but, the Tourism Department can do better by updating it quarterly or biannually. Other good tourism sites are the Philippines' provincial and city websites where each province, town or city feature their main tourist attractions. There are also websites created by volunteers who promote their locality's main and not so popular attractions. Here are some websites. add: Agree with Tina and Jan-na on Ivan Henares and wayspoint. There are also other sites to check out. still, the most effective way to promote our country is by word of mouth; and, how we conduct ourselves, as Filipinos, at home and in other countries. BTW, Boracay made it again to Trip Advisor's Top Ten Beac Destinations. Top 10: Beach… [cont.]

Would restoring and expanding the Philippine railway network promote the nation's development?
Q. Many Filipinos, especially those born after 1976, long to see their nation develop and become more prosperous as Singapore and South Korea has. Does the railway have a role to play in Philippine national development? Since the early 1980's, train service on Luzon and Panay islands has been neglected. Would it be desirable to restore and expand the rail system on those islands and others like Mindanao?
Asked by philrailfan - Fri Jan 11 23:25:21 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yes sure you are correct. railway transport is the cheapest transportation system on land. one more important thing is by restoring and to expanding the railway more people will get jobs to build infrastructure, and later its a long term employment to maintain the system. Now as in India there is a railway system which provided the highest number jobs in one dept. in the whole world. Next railway is the best solution for rising oil prices. Its easy to convert or make electrification for locomotive system. And right now at the development stage the country has to build railway infrastructure which keep giving fruits throughout the future, and no pollution at all.

What will happen if philippine government will ban non-phil music?
Q. this is only hypo case. what if music in the philippine are from philippine artists only. music from other countries are not allowed. is this good or bad for phil music industry?
Asked by li'l miss wendy - Wed Jul 22 12:41:17 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It'd be good for the Music Industry, obviously. Not only would they sell more but their skills would be sharpened since there'd be a lot of competitors for that arena. But the people would be skeptical, some would rally, others would try boycotting the sales but they would somehow give in to it. But why should the Phil. do this? Music from other countries are good for our economy, not only do they come here but as to coming here they "kind of" advertise our country to their fellow countrymen boosting up our economy.

Why is there a need to study Philippine Historiography? What ideas justify its relevance?
Q. Philippine historiography is the written record of what is known of human lives in the Philippines, and societies in the past and how historians have attempted to understand them.
Asked by lauren - Tue Sep 25 10:08:12 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Simply because you need to know your roots and understand how things has developed and became what they are right now. If you will not study this subject, I'm sure at one point in your life you will ask the origin of your identity as a Filipino and the Philippines as your country. Not knowing these stuff is just like being an orphan not knowing who her parents are! Isn't that relevant enough?

Can a Chinese Citizen but born in the Philippines get a philippine passport?
Q. My dad is a chinese citizen both my grandparents are also a chinese citizen but had already settle here in the Phillipines for a decade. My dad is a naturalized born here in the Phillippines, can he get a philippine passport?
Asked by judz - Tue Aug 18 06:22:40 2009 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. A Philippine passport is given as a priveledge to Philippine Citizens. That's the law. The citizenship of your dad should be clarified first. Is he a Chinese Citizen or a Filipino Citizen or both. (Philippines allows dual citicenship, but China does not). Read this link to find out about his citizenship. According to this link being born in the Philippines does not automatically make one a Filipino citizen, especially if the parents are not Filipino citizen. There are certain conditions that must be satisfied. But then you said your dad was naturalized. That means your dad has met the conditions specified by the law and he hold the documents to prove this. Then by all means he can apply for a Philippine passport.
