Ingredients 1/2 cup pickling salt 2 quarts water 1 1/2 lbs very small onion or pearl onions or shallots 2 tablespoons brown sugar 2 cups malt vinegar 1 teaspoon black peppercorns 1/4 teaspoon whole allspice 1/4 teaspoon hot pepper flakes 1 bay leaf, crumbled Directions 1In a bowl, dissolve cup salt in 1 quart water; add the onions and weight them gently with a plate that fits inside the bowl. 2Let them stand 8 to 12 hours. 3Drain the onions, and peel them; return them to the bowl. 4Make a brine with the remaining salt and water, pour it over the onions, and weight them gently again. 5Let them stand 2 days. 6In a nonreactive saucepan, bring the sugar and vinegar to a boil; let the liquid cool. 7Drain and… [cont.]

What kind of pickle are those that come with deli sandwiches?
Q. For instance, I bought a Kroger deli sandwich and it came with a pickle on the side. What flavor are these?

A. Ask the people in the Deli what kind of pickles they use. Many delis use the dill pickles that are sold in the refrigerated section of a grocery store where the lunchmeat is sold. I want to say it's Clausens but I'm not sure of it. I know the wrapper on the jar is dark green with a dark green lid. It's the only brand of pickle that I have seen refrigerated. Hope that helps!

According to co-inventors U.S. Congressman Joel Pritchard, William Bill Bell, Jordan Steranka, and Barney McCallum, their intent was to create a fun new sport for the entire family.
