How necessary is it to use pillars in a two tiered cake?
Q. I've never made a two tiered cake before, so I don't know whether it will be a diaster if I don't use pillars! Also what size pillars do I use?
Asked by Dolly Mixture - Tue Sep 1 16:16:26 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. This depends on what kind of two layered cake you're wanting to do. If you want it above the bottom layer with space in between then you will need some sort of support for this. Like Pillars and dowels. However if you just want the cake sitting on top of each other is it not necessary. You can simply use dowels to ensure it does not slide off the bottom layer or use dabs of icing to "glue" it down on the cake before icing the entire cake.

How do I set pillars below the frost line of an existing mobile home?
Q. I'm looking to buy a mobile home, but mobile homes aren't finance-able unless the pillars are set below the frost line. Looking to see if it is possible to do this after the mobile home is already in place on a concrete foundation?
Asked by candle.junkie - Tue Mar 3 12:38:12 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The bank may require this if you are wanting a regular mortgage which would include financing on the land as well as the trailer. If this is the case you need to find a different lender or a different trailer. (It would be way to costly and time consuming to put frost pillars into the ground under the trailer. besides you wouldn't own the trailer until after that was done, so you would be doing work on someone property you do not own.) If the trailer is on leased land, in a park setting, then you need to find a different lender. If you do not own the land under the trailer the trailer should not be permanently attached to the land. Here is a website with more free information on mobile home loans, it helped me when I was… [cont.]

Are the pillars of heaven just an architectural addition with no structural benefit?
Q. Job 26:11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof. Why does heaven need pillars? Does it have a heavy stone roof that needs to be supported? The Greeks used to love pillars, I mean, look at the Parthenon! I can imagine their concept of heaven having pillars, so do you think the Judeo/Christian myth writers just borrowed the idea of pillars from the Greeks?
Asked by Harvie Krumpet - Sun Jan 25 17:46:41 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The pillars of Heaven are pillars of salt and sand that crumble, once hit by reality. They, like Heaven, don't exist. Christianity borrows many things from other religions, e.g. Christmas and the idea of monotheism, so it wouldn't surprise me if they did get the idea from the Greeks.

Can you compare pillars of Islam with others in your religion ?
Q. Pillars of Islam are the framework of the Muslim life: faith in God and Mohammed (PBUH) as prophet of Islam..., self-purification and prayer, concern for the needy, fasting , and the pilgrimage to Makkah for those who are able.

A. The five pillars of Islam that is: 1) Shahadah (profession of faith) 2) Salah (ritual prayer) 3) Zakah (alms tax) 4) Sawm (fasting during Ramadan) 5) Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) All these can be comparable to my religion which is Hinduism. Hindus also have to have faith in One and Only One God. The Vedas ask all Hindus to believe in Only one Creator and his many different avatars that came to earth in human form. Hindus are also advised to pray to God regularly. Yoga was one of the ideal ways that was used by Lord Shiva, himself, to meditate. Hindus are also taught to give alms and everything possible to poor people. Hindus also fast during special days. Hindus also travel to holy places without wearing a top just like Muslims.

How do the five pillars of faith impact on the everyday life of muslims?
Q. Hi, this is one of the questions of a religion assignment and i cant seem to find any information! Some first hand info from muslims out there would be greatly appreciated :) how do the five pillars of faith (shahada, salat, zakar, sawm and hajj) affect your everyday life? e.g. do you have to go out of your way to adhere to these?
Asked by Corinne - Sun Aug 16 10:08:56 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Shahada impacts everyday life by the choice you made to live on God's straight path Salat impacts daily life by having us focus on God 5 times a day, keeps us behaving Zakat is the same as christian tithes & offerings, it's charity Sawm impacts daily life because we fast instead of eating, and spend more time in prayer Hajj only impacts those who have gone, it's the pilgrimage to Mecca, very important to do at least once of financially and physically able to do it. It only impacts 'daily' life by possibly changing for the better how you live your life according to God's straight path.

Q. I'm wondering what the best way to attach garland for Christmas to the pillars on my front porch. I don't want to pull a Griswold Family Christmas and tape it up there so what's the best idea?
Asked by Noelle - Tue Nov 10 19:15:44 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You did not say what the pillars are made of. Base on that, a couple of ideas come to mind. If the pillars are wood, a wood screw or J screw. Metal pillars, round or square, a bungee cord. Available at any car parts house like Napa in different lengths, like 6, 12, 18, 24, 36, inches. You want the fit snug so the the bungee cord does not slid down the pillar. Just wrap one around the pillar and connect the hooks together and hang the garland on it. You can then decorate the bungee cord to disguise it. That is about all I can think of that would be easy and inexpensive. Wingman

The question is "Explore why Muslims who are rich and famous might have problems with the way they interpret the 5 Pillars? Refer to well known Muslims to support the points you make." Michael and I and the word of God, we could do so much." How egotistical . . Yehr, Islam is going to be all the richer with Michael Jackson. Just what they need, "worldliness and perversion".

A. Hi, congratulations on the effort of making your own gluten and dairy free wedding cake! Im proud of you!! I hope I can help you with the pillars. I also made my own gluten and dairy free wedding cake. I did two tiers (10" and 8" octagonals) My cakes rested on ordinary ply cake boards covered with foil. I had the crystal look pillars between the layers. They were not spiked, so I had to measure and cut 6mm diameter wooden dowelling lengths the height of the pillar plus the cake depth. I slightly sharpened the lower ends of the dowelling to help with their insertion into the cake. The dowelling was to take the weight of the cake above and were pushed into the cake till they hit the board. The height of the pillars were left exposed. I… [cont.]

Can you use the Wilton brand separator plates with out the pillars or will it damage the cake?
Q. Baking a wedding cake and have never used the separator plates, noticed on the Wilton site that they were to corresponds with the Wilton pillars. Now I am afraid that they will put to much pressure on the cake and collapse it... is that true? I was going to use the separators instead of the coragated card board to make it easier to separate the layers

A. You can use the plates to keep the layers separate. I put a circle of parchment paper under them so the pieces of cake still have frosting on them when you are ready to cut and serve the cake. Also plastic drinking straws will function as dowels and keep the cake from getting squished. I use anywhere from three to five straws per layer and trim them when I'm crumb coating.

A. Hobby Lobby usually has "pillars" normally used as decorative plant stands. They are made of wood, chalk/clay, most are imported in natural materials, and or finished to look like antique pieces. Other choices, are units available at plant nurserys, same product, different store.

A. If this were a HD transition yes it would. However, this is simply a digital transition which has nothing to do with the aspect ratio broadcasters use. You will likely see this slowly change over the years as it has since HDTV because popular. However, pillar-boxing will not simply go away because of this transition.

A. It depends on where you live Here in the Northeast we put our concrete pillars 4' in the ground so we can get below the frost line If frost isn't an issue a depth of 2' should be strong enough to hold your deck Go to your local lumber supply house(HD,LOWES) and buy some 8" SONA-TUBES, this is a round cardboard type form that you bury in the ground and fill with concrete Just bury in the ground up to existing grade and then you can put your support Post on top of the concrete

7 pillars of wisdom vs revolt in the desert?
Q. I have the first american printing of TE Lawrence's "Revolt in the desert" , but I understand that Lawrence's autobiography is called "The Seven pillars of wisdom". so do I have his autobiography with an american title or do I have something different?
Asked by Greg W - Fri Dec 28 19:58:27 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Revolt in the Desert is an abridged version of 7 pillars. According to Wikipedia, 3 versions of his autobiography - each shorter than the other - were released because shorter versions were expected to be more popular. Parts of "Revolt..." contradict "Seven Pillars..." especially when they discuss Lawrence's leadership role in the revolt and his alleged capture by the Turks.
