A. um i personally think that they vary differently as you go up higher in the level of your play. ill list the pros and cons of wearing basketball shoes and running shoes. basketball shoes help protect your ankles, the most vulnerable part of your body when you jump for a rebound, go for a layup, or jump in general. basketball shoes also sorta help stabilize your feet for a shot. but basketball shoes are generally bigger and heavier, and because protection is a double edged sword, it avoids making quick, long strides on your first dribble. and with basketball shoes being heavier, it might slightly impede your jump height and your speed and agility. running shoes are generally light and provides you with slightly better speed, agility and… [cont.]

What to think when you playing basketball to boost your confidence?
Q. When I m playing basketball I get nervous and disappear... except when I have sucky players on MY team then I don't... but what should I think when playing basketball to boost my confidence? Should I trash talk in my head to boost my confidence or is there something else I can do silently in my head to make me feel real good and confident playing basketball?
Asked by crazyforsmallville - Sun Oct 21 17:23:09 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well i think the most important thing is to believe in yourself, doesn't matter what you are thinking inside, you have to have confidence in yourself. When you are playing in a game, you make a decision and you go along with it, you should not care about what people are saying about you. The only way you will get better is if you believe in urself.

I was playing basketball and got hit in the head by an elbow?
Q. Ok so today i was playing basketball and when i tried to catch the ball i jumped back and the other guys elbow who was also catching the ball got in my way and my heat hit his elbow. It started to hurt a lot but it didn't bleed. It still kinda hurts now when i touch it. Will anything bad happen to me? I am worried.
Asked by John C - Thu May 21 14:54:30 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well of course it hurts. It's called a bruise. Apply ice for ten minute than apply heat for fifteen. Do this three times a day for about three days. If things get funny go see a Dr. In some very rare circumstances a bump to the head may cause very minor brain damage. I play hockey competitively and get lots of hits to the head and I am fine.

A. Try going into: www.cyosports.org/documen ts/ sportsnutrition-CYO.pdf It tells you exactly when, what and what not to eat. Good info. Carbs are the way to go the night before, something small if the game is early in the morning. Good luck in your game!

On the days I rest from my workout should I be out playing basketball?
Q. I've been working out my legs every second day because I badly want to be able to dunk a 10ft goal. Should I be resting the days I have to rest or should I be out playing basketball? Often, I still get quite a good workout from playing basketball and my legs will feel even more sore when I get home. Should I just rest it on the days I dont workout my legs? Any advice would be appretiated, thanks!

A. you should be resting. perform some dynamic stretches or some very slow static stretches and that is it. if you work-out too much you will not see any results.

Is anything I can do to stop my neighbor playing basketball?
Q. My neighbor installed a basketball hoop in the front of their house, and the kids are playing all the time, day and night, sometimes stop playing before 11:00pm. The noise is really bothering me. I talked to them, but they still keep playing. Is anything I can do to stop them?
Asked by shawn L - Thu Aug 6 00:47:29 2009 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Anonymously call the police non-emergency line and ask what the town noise restrictions are and if there is any cut off time to loud outdoor noises. If so, ask them if this information is available online and print out a copy to show to your neighbors. If there are no restrictions, then the disappearing basketball trick is always solid, as is parking your car on the street right next to the hoop. If they hit your car, you can enjoy installing new Hydrogen-enhanced headlights.

Eyes get bloodshot red while playing basketball?
Q. Every Wednesday I go to play basketball at a recreation center with people from work. I know im not in the best shape but im still very athletic. Everytime I start playing my vision starts to get a little shaky and my eyes turn really red. What could this be?

A. As a Medical Student, when you excercise or doing something where your heart rate is at a rapid speed, blood tends to flow faster to all parts of your body including the eyes. I wouldn't worry about it unless it hurts. I would suggest seeing an Ophthamologist for that.
