A. Polar bones are found in polar bears. The most polar bonds have the greatest electronegativity difference. H-S -- 2.58 - 2.20 = 0.38 C-S -- 2.58 - 2.55 = 0.03 ** most non-polar bonds P-F -- 3.98 - 2.19 = 1.79 ** most polar I-Br -- 2.96 - 2.66 = 0.30

How do you remove chewing gum from polar fleece?
Q. I have this polar fleece blanket that somehow managed to get chewing gum stuck to it. As polar fleece is quite fluffy, the chewing gum has adhered itself very well. I've tried the usual stain removers and laundry detergent in an attempt to break it down, but it didn't work. Is there a safe, effective way to remove, break down or dissolve the gum? Without ruining my blanket? :)

A. There is always goo gone. It's oily and pretty good at breaking the hold of gum.

Whats the difference between an charged and polar molecule?
Q. I'm trying to learn about amino acids and there different side groups. I don't know the difference between a charged/uncharged/polar side group. My book isn't giving any details about this.

A. A polar molecule does not have a charge. However one part (i.e. atom) of the molecule is more electronegative than the other. This means that it attracts electrons more often towards it than the other atom. So one side of the polar molecule tends to be a little more positive than the other side (which ends up being a little more negative). Water is a polar molecule. It doesn't have a charge, but the oxygen atom hogs up the electrons most of the time compared to the hydrogen atoms. In a charged molecule, one side is definately positive, and the other side is definately negative. There is no sharing of the electrons, unlike in a polar molecule.
