My math teacher says that because I'm doing so well, i can skip pre calc and go straight to calculus. My question is whether or not that would be a good idea. Take into consideration that I would be given a pre calc book to look over during the summer. Asked by Gerald J - Tue Feb 3 22:32:19 2009 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments A. When I did pre-calculus a few years ago, I felt that it was mostly a rehashing of what we learned in Algebra II. If you feel up to it, you should probably just skip; however, I would recommend that you learn and fully master the trigonometry that is discussed in your teacher's pre-calculus book. Many of the trigonometric functions will appear frequently in your calculus class - you won't be able to do well if you don't understand them. Best of luck! Answered by coolkid70 - Tue Feb 3 22:38:32 2009 How do I show work for this pre-calc question? Q. "A population grows from its initial level of 25,000 at a continuous rate of 7.4% per year. Find a formula for P(t) the population in year t. Show all your work." I already know that the answer is P(25,000 x 1.074^t), but I know this just off the top of my head... how would I show work for it? Asked by fauxfetus - Thu Jul 16 19:41:30 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. You're right there's no work to show, but the word "continuous" tells you to use e: P(t) = 25,000 e^(0.074t) Answered by Philo - Thu Jul 16 19:46:32 2009 Going to be a junior in high school and I wanted to know if it was okay taking AP Calculus without pre-calc?
Q. I really don't have a choice and I was wondering if Calculus is really that much harder without having taken Pre-Calculus. Thanks Asked by simbainkempner - Fri Aug 7 17:50:12 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. It depends on how good you are at grasping math concepts and what your teachers say. Check with them, maybe they will give you a placement test that will show if you are ready to go into AP Calc. Good luck!
