Why do doctors prescribe birth control to regulate a period?
Q. I do not know why doctors prescribe birth control to "regulate a period" if all it does is stop you from ovulating! Im irregular and have been trying to conceive for a little over a year now! What's the point?

A. it helps in regulating your period which will help detecting your ovulation period.Your doc will tell you to stop taking it after you have regular periods again and then try conceiving.. My ob says it's not always gonna work, it's like putting it to chances...It's not a guarantee that after you stop taking pills, you're gonna have periods of your own... If you want to conceive immediately, consult him about Clomid...

What would the doctor prescribe for an itchy rash caused by allergies?
Q. I have had an itchy rash for a few days now all over my body. I know it is not poison oak or ivy. The rash goes away for a few hours when I take Benadryl but comes back when the pills wear off. Anyone know why a doctor may prescribe for this problem? I remember on time when I had a bad case of poison oak they gave me a shot and then some pills

A. Try Benadryl topical spray. It's OTC. Or Caladryl and hydrocortisone cream, also OTC. And ask your pharmacist. A doctor would prescribe a treatment for the rash depending on the cause of it. You haven't really stated the cause. How do you know it's an allergic reaction? To what? I guess the obvious advice is to avoid the cause. In any case, it would be a prescription med and you couldn't buy it OTC. For the itching, Atarax works great but it's by rx only.

What will a dermatologist prescribe for clogged pores?
Q. I'm on minocycline for back acne, but will that get rid of clogged pores? I think that's an antibiotic for the inflamed stuff. What else would a dermatologist prescribe?

A. I know it isn't prescribed for acne, but a quick fix is the antibiotic Kelflex. Clears up any acne in no time cause it's a skin antibiotic. But you can't use it all the time, like any other antibiotic. Try not to sweat so much.
