Is Money your prime motivation for working?
Q. Is money your prime motivation for working? If the government raised taxes, would you stop working or work less just to spite the government?
Asked by Answerer - Fri Aug 24 09:20:28 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well it has to be. If we didn't work to earn money, then we couldn't eat, I couldn't buy clothes for my kids, ect. I guess you could actually say my family is my main motivation for working. I have to be able to take care of them. As for the taxes, it doesn't matter since I would still have to have money to take care of my family. I will also admit, that I like to have the finer things in life (house, new truck, ect.) but they don't motivate me like my family does.

Vanguard Prime Money Market vs. Bank of Internet Savings?
Q. Vanguard's site says the compound yield for their Prime MM is 0.26%. Bank of Internet is offering a savings account with an APY of 2.5% Is it possible to compare these two numbers or are they completely separate things? I'm just looking to get the most out of my savings wherever I put it. And isn't 0.26% kind of small?
Asked by J. - Sat Jul 11 01:32:10 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The Prime MM yield is based upon earnings from investments the fund manager purchased. Bank of Internet makes a decision based upon how much money it needs in deposits and sets a rate that will attract those deposits. Bank of Internet saves on its operating expenses by not having any branches so it can offer higher rates.

Pele or Maradona, Christiano Ronaldo or Messi ?Who would you pay your money to watch in their prime?
Q. Who is better when at the top of his game?
Asked by b_prince - Mon Jun 23 10:21:35 2008 - - 19 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I would definitely prefer Maradona over Pele because altthough Pele scored more goals Maradona was the better entertainer. And I would also choose Messi over C. Ronaldo because while Ronaldo is just a winger who gets a lot of goals Messi is a playmaker who creates chances for his side!

Vanguard Prime Money Market -- risk of failure?
Q. A friend of mine's mother has nearly $300,000 in a Vanguard Money Market account (a large portion of her retirement). She also probably has $100,000 in other Vanguard funds. With everything going on, she is concerned about its safety. She asked me if she should withdrawl that $300,000 and split it among 3-4 savings accounts at different banks so she is under $100,000 in each and FDIC insured. Is this something she should do?
Asked by ccartwright2001 - Thu Jul 17 00:39:40 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The risk of default in a money market account, especially at a major company like Vanguard, is extremely low. She could get that little extra bit of safety by putting the money in several banks, but I expect that she will receive a lower rate of return and have fewer investment choices. There are other ways to look for safety and not give up return, such as going into a short-term U.S. Treasury fund at Vanguard. She should look again at the asset allocation in the account; this is heavy concentration in money market funds, which are not even beating inflation. This is another type of risk, which is not hard to avoid.

The Vanguard Prime Money Market Fund (VMMXX) requires an initial $3000 minimum investment, but...?
Q. does that mean I must ALWAYS keep $3000 in there? Or can I exchange as much as I want out to another Vanguard fund. I have $4000 in there now and want to move $2000 into the Vanguard Star Fund. Can that be done? I called Vanguard but couldn't get a clear answer. What will happen if I let the VMMXX drop below $3000??

Q. Why is money the prime focus of women during divorce?

A. because money seems to be the main focus - look at feminism, it is always about getting money from the tax payer (primarily male) for it's anti-male programmes. it never ceases to amaze me how women want to divorce the man - but not his money (there are exceptions to this rule)

What do you think of the right-wing Italian prime minister who took away money from Public schools....?
Q. ... and increased the funds of Private schools and universities? This new reform also restores one unique teacher in the elementary schools and imposes elementary school students to wear uniforms. This changes things as Italians knew them before, when there were different teachers for different subjects and wearing a uniform was not mandatory. The main concern of these protesters is the fact that it will increase the difference between public schools, where only poor people will go to the public schools and public schools teachers' wages will be lower, and private schools, which will create an elite group of students on the basis of their personal richness. Italy does not have a student loan program funded by the government as the United… [cont.]

The time value of money concept becomes less critical as the prime rate increases. TRUE OR FALSE?
Q. The time value of money concept becomes less critical as the prime rate increases. is it true or false??
Asked by chinna - Thu Feb 12 17:59:59 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. False. Time value of money is based on the return that you can get on your money. So if prime rate increases you can make more by having it just sitting in a bank account than before so it will definitely affect time value of money equations. For example if your company can get 5% on their money in a bank account then any project they undertake needs to have a higher return than 5% for it to be worthwhile. (or if they have another project that will return 5%, whatever the case is.) So if prime goes up and you can now get 10% it will definately affect the decision making.
