How and why did the Nazis dehumanize their prisoners?
Q. How and why did the Nazis dehumanize their prisoners? What were the selection processes in the camps like? How many roads must a man walk down before they call him a man?
Asked by Jacob P. - Wed May 13 02:24:38 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. By "Prisoners", do you mean Jews, Russians, and the other victims of the Holocaust? The Nazis did not regard these people as Human, thus they did not treat them as such. Most children who were sent to the camps did not survive because they were not considered valuable enough to be used for work and were sent to the gas chambers. If the Nazis sent you to a concentration camp, you could walk as many roads as you liked, you'd never he classified or treated as a real 'man' while you were in there. Whereas on the other hand, the Nazis treated most of the (UK, American, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand (etc..) POWs they took with a much greater degree of care (With noteable exceptions). Far better than they treated the Russians, Polish and… [cont.]
