What are semi private horseback riding lessons?
Q. Me and my friend are planning on taking horseback riding lessons. The ranch that we are thinking about going to offer private, semi private, and open lessons. And we were considering private or semi private. But I was wondering exactly what semi private lessons are?
Asked by FreeAsABird - Thu May 8 17:06:31 2008 - - 11 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Private lessons is one student to one instructor. Semi private lessons is a couple (the number varies from one instructor to another) of students to one instructor. Group lessons is usually 6 or more students to one instructor. You can get results from all of them. Sometimes in a private lesson you will get tired before the end of the lesson and not get full benefits early on. A semi private is nice you get brief "rest" periods and can learn from what the instructor is telling the other students that you may not be doing yourself. Group lessons expand on both these issues, it has far less personal attention to problems and is harder to learn in. Semi private is very good with a private now and then to work on any issues you have that… [cont.]

How much should a private event planner charge per hour?
Q. I am in the process of starting my own private event planning company in colorado and I am not sure how much I should charge for my services. In the past I have done corporate work with pro teams and I have also worked as a private wedding planner in Southern California. I am planning on working private holiday parties, club openings, birthday parties and so on, but due to the diversity on my services I think I should charge by the hour opposed to offering packages. What is a good hourly rate for a private event planner with experience?
Asked by Ethereal - Fri Oct 10 10:52:31 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well try a research your market, check prices that other event charge even the prices of those you have worked with. Also research what companies and individuals are willing to pay for these kinda of services. Then u work out your stuff from there. Check out equipments prices, if u have to employ any one, rent stuff from other companies etc. I hope this helps.

What private sector job options are out there for public sector attorney with a heart and desire to serve?
Q. I love serving the public and being an attorney. I have been in private practice for over three years, and think my resume reads as stale or not up-to-speed. How can I market myself to get back in to public sector legal work? Or market my skills as transferable to the private sector? Thanks for any input.
Asked by Could Be - Tue Jun 17 22:14:56 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There are many options. Attorney general and city/county council offices both use attorneys. There is also the possibility of hearings officers in a number of fields. If you have any employment law experience, that's in your favor.

Is a Jeppesen Private Pilot Manual printed in 1977 a good one to use for learning to fly? ?
Q. I'm currently taking flying lessons to become a private pilot and I was wondering if I purchased the right book. It's a Jeppesen Sanderson Private Pilot Manual but it was published in 1977. Does that make a difference or is it good enough? I just started taking lessons and that was a good price. or is one printed in 1994 better?
Asked by Principal Skinner - Tue Sep 9 18:01:01 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I'd go with the one from 1994. The 77 one probably isn't up to date. Even better, I'd go with one that's only a few years old. Ask your flight instructor if he or any friends has old (but new) Jeppesen Pilot manuals they no longer use. You might even be able to find a few good cheap one's from E-bay. Good luck on getting your PPL!

What private, liberal arts colleges have an exceptional arts program?
Q. I'm majoring in Studio Arts and possibly French or International Relations. My current school is strong in the liberal arts but their visual arts program is underdeveloped and pretty elementary, so I want to transfer. I feel like I rarely hear about good arts programs at small, private colleges so I'm looking for some suggestions, primarily in the Pacific Northwest but I'm open to anything. Thanks.

A. The small, liberal arts schools that I know have excellent overall academics and strong visual arts programs are on the east coast, sorry. They include: Bard, Skidmore, Tufts (via their relationship with the School of the MFA Boston), Brown (via their relationship with RISD; and like Tufts, maybe big for you, but they really are small unis, relatively speaking), and Carnegie Mellon U (again, a small uni). Those are all very strong. The one I think is dead-on for what you want is Bard. Others you could consider include Smith, Hampshire, Wesleyan, and SUNY New Palz.

How does private property create alienation according to Marx?
Q. Private property is the origin of alienation. How is this so according to Marx ?
Asked by Bood - Thu Mar 20 14:13:09 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It is possible for a person with a good and beneficial idea to be unable to implement it because he does not have the necessary private property. Or it is possible for the owner of said property to gain income at the expense of the worker simply be letting him use it. In other words we are back to the Hegelian dialectic. One person has control over another person's efforts, benefits from them, and has to do nothing in exchange for this. Why should a productive person put up with these inhibitions from a non-productive one?

Can a private helicopter fly from state to state?
Q. Can a private helicopter fly from state to state? For example from New Jersey to Florida -- how about farther? I'm just curious after watching a show about luxury aircrafts. Thanks.
Asked by elledriver80 - Wed Jun 25 16:01:59 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Helicopters are governed by the FAA, which is a federal agency, which means that states may not place extra regulations on the operation of them. They may require registration of all aircraft that are based in the state, or put a tax on fuel or other aircraft related items, but they may not regulate the aircraft themselves. Helicopters are not usually able to fly such long distances, usually only about 200 miles, and the best only about 400 miles. They are also slow, almost none can fly faster than even the 150mph of a cessna 172sp. Most fly about 110-115mph. For anything more than 150 miles, a light aircraft would be better, and would be significantly cheaper. Many wealthy people fly their own light aircraft to distinguish them from… [cont.]

As a very small private business, am I required by law to pay an employee wages while on jury duty?
Q. We have less than 5 employees in our small private business. It will cause us undue financial hardship to pay an employee chosen for jury duty, who could conceivably be serving on a jury for a week, a month or even more. I would like to know what requirements if any, there are to require us (an independent private firm not governmentally connected) to continue to pay an employee normal wages while serving jury duty.
Asked by Sacramento Business Owner - Wed Jan 9 18:58:12 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Paying an employee for jury duty is at the discretion of the business owner.

A. it depends on your level of performance. if you are beginning, or even advanced, i would start looking/asking at the local university or community college music department, lots of students give music lessons for extra cash. if you dont have that, get in touch with a local high school. all of the above usually have students that are capable of giving beginning lessons. you can also check if your city has a symphony and try to go through them. these people are usually always very helpful. good luck!

How long after private home inspection can I expect to close on the house?
Q. I've already faxed all my documentation to my lender and they are ordering an appraisal. Its a bank owned home but the bank that owns the house now is lending me the money for the mortgage. Would it be possible to close 2 weeks after the private home inspection?
Asked by C man - Thu Dec 6 21:58:41 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It will depend on how fast the bank processes the paperwork, how long the title company takes to get their work done, and when they can schedule the closing. If you let them know you are hoping for a fast closing, they may be able to accommodate. We sold one and had the closing done within 3 weeks of the purchase/sale agreement. The bank assigned a classmate as the lawyer, and he whizzed all the paperwork along for us when he found out we were leaving the state and would like to hurry.

Are there any private charter aircraft a company can hire which will allow passengers to use their own phones?
Q. When travelling on a private chartered flight, are there any planes with the facility of being able to use your own mobile phones? Or do only have use of the onboard phone?
Asked by victoria - Sun Sep 9 08:14:32 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No. The thing is the "use" of your mobile phone is not determined by the charter company, but by the actual design of the network that your moblile phone "talks to". mobile phones are actually small radio transceivers (Transmitters/Receivers). When they are switched on, they boost their transmit power to high until they get a response from a cellular base station (like the silver rods you see on some tall masts). Unfortunately if the mobile phone is up high in an airplane its transmit power could try to connect to many different cellular base station and the network would then go crazy trying to work out which base station to connect your mobile phone to. This is why, apart from the possible interference with the aircrafts… [cont.]

Difference between a private flight instructor and an aviation school?
Q. You can obtain and complete the same requirements both ways right? So, why should I bother enrolling in a school if I can obtain the same accreditation with a private instructor? Is there a large price difference? Or do people generally start with a private instructor, obtain their recreational level, then move to a school?
Asked by Collie - Tue Jun 19 13:00:02 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well, by "aviation school" you could mean two things: aviation academies (universities or dedicated academies) or the local flight school at your local airport. Both get you the same rating, but each has distinct advantages and disadvantages. The local flight school is probably going to be cheaper and in some cases you may get a more personalized service. You are also more likely to get a veteran flight instructor that is doing it for the love of teaching people to fly. The biggest disadvantages of the local flight school are that you are much more likely to be flying older aircraft (which isn't necessarily a problem, but some see it as one) and your flight instructors may well be part time, thus making it more difficult for you to get… [cont.]

Asked by Vicent.22 - Tue Jun 10 21:08:33 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Hello there. Memory cards have a memory, but not the way you are worried about. The cards can be used over and over again and store the pictures that the camera is taking as it takes them but if you delete the pictures from the camera's delete button, the memory card will be clean and ready to take new pictures and as someone suggested, you can go into the menu of the camera and use the "select the FORMAT your card option" which will wipe out all picture information and leave the memory card clean and ready to record new pictures again. Old pictures are history, never to be seen by other human eyes. :)

How long before private businesses start profiling employees through techniques from the Patriot Act?
Q. Listening to phone calls, reading incoming and outgoing mail, hacking into private e-mail correspondance? Are we heading down this very dangerous road of profiling again? If you dissent from the government's line you will be investigated and possibly detained and/or arrested until months or years down the road someone like the ACLU steps up to defend you? Or until finally some of the people in Washington come to their senses again? Anyone else have that 'through the looking glass' feeling the past 20 years or so? Like the status quo has been skewed?

A. It started a long time ago when employees were taking lunch breaks in their vehicles in the company parking lots and found they were under surveillance by company security staff. Most recently, The Brady Center for Gun Safety (A misnomer if there ever was one.) Has pushed large companies to punish employees who carry and store firearms in their vehicles while on company property. They have even gone to the extent of searching these vehicle in violation of the employees' Constitutional Rights. These employees were found to be permitted CCW holders and lawfully within their rights to do so. A. It depends, some teachers have you for a half an hour and others for an hour. New York probably has the highest prices. I teach classical guitar in my home, and I charge $30.00 for a half hour...If I have a great student and they can't afford it I charge less, I've even taught some for free, I'll do this for students that I know can't afford lessons, but have great potential and are serious about playing. One student I had was a riot, he use to beg me if he could watch cartoons instead of playing, I use to tell his mother that he had no musical ability and had no interest in guitar but she still continued to bring him here for six months, that was one student that I would have paid the mother not to bring him, he was so cute, but not… [cont.]

A. If they are in certificate form, take them to a broker/dealer. Or call the new company and ask them how they want to handle it. Most likely there was a tender offer period and you should have received information regarding how you can sell your shares. If you don't have this either the broker/dealer or the new company will be able to help.
