Do you think dogs are actually smarter than cats?
Q. I sure don't think so. 90% of dogs I see can't even open a door that is cracked by themselves, but almost all cats I see are smart enough to put their paws under the door, or even scratch at the side of the door to walk in/out. I also noticed some dogs I had in the past couldn't find their Milk Bone I through almost literally in front of their faces, but when I hide a cat treat, my cat finds it pretty easily. And I realize this is off the line, but cats are also much more physically fit than dogs. They are quick and agile, and have speed. Hell, kittens are cuter than puppies too. ( Hamsters beat both :) ) So what do you guys think? Cats or dogs? Which animal is smarter?

A. I think cats are smarter but not as cooperative and willing to learn human tricks. They do what they want to do. Dogs aren't quite as smart but are willing to learn. That being said I have met some pretty smart dogs and some dumb cats

Question. Help me pls?
Q. Sometimes when I'm holding my Maltese puppy and he gets excited and starts wiggling I'll hear a small crack, like his bone is cracking. Like when you crack your fingers kind of crack. What is this? I know I need to take him to a vet, but it doesn't seem urgent as it has just started happening and doesn't happen frequently and there is nothing wrong with him. I am just looking for opinions so I can tell me vet what I think it could be. He is 5 months old.

A. He's a growing boy! His little bones are thickening are growing and you'll occassionally hear these little sounds, they're not serious or painful, its like when we get up if we've been sitting on the floor and your knee ' cracks ' or ' pops '. If you're at all worried take him along to your vet for a check up but its not urgent. If it bothered him he'd cry out or yelp when you touched that area and since he's well i'd rule out anything major.

RAW Diet for dogs, have I cracked it?
Q. ok...so let me know your thoughts. I've contacted our butcher, they can get brisket bones in (RMB) for a few dollars, and beef scraps for a few dollars for 1/2 kilo. We've found somewhere that does beef tail. So we're thinking our pups diet may consit of something like this: 1/2 kilo beef divided between 2 meals a week, 1/2 Kilo of RMB divided by 2 meals a week, Cows tail for 1 meal a week, 2 small fish or one medium sized one for 1 meal a week, 1 chicken carcas or 250g thighs/wings etc once a week One liver a week, One kidney a week, 2 egg yolks and shell (powder) a week, A couple of giblets a week. The ocasional change if we see something different at our butchers/stores. Have I cracked it? I contacted the abatoirr that supplies for… [cont.]

A. Depending on how much bone is in the brisket, that may still be a lot of bone. The total quantity of bone should be around 10%. Watch the cow tail... give it in large pieces, since small pieces may be a choking hazard. Are you feeding this pup once a day? At her age, twice might be better. What kind of liver and kidney? You want organs to total about 10% of the diet, half liver and half something else. Most dogs will get explosive diarrhea if given whole meals of organs... better to feed a bit every day or every couple of days. You don't have to pulverize the egg shell for her. Give her an egg and send her outside to figure it out. Some dogs eat the shell, and some don't... either is O.K. Heart is usually an obtainable, cheap and… [cont.]

Worst advice Ever that you can give?
Q. Is it just me, or does it seem for certain questions, people her give the WORST possible advice ever...such as "just give an oatmeal bath and the fungus will go away" or "your puppy should have never been sold that young, get it groomed immediately" or, that groomer was so rude, they didn't know what groom was expected!...Heck, I even read something earlier that suggested to only give chicken bones. WOW!!! Number one bone not to feed any pet? Chicken, because of the fact that it cracks under no pressure at all! But good luck to all the little babies that will now choke and suffer from chicken bone because of the "best response" given to a prior question...Damn Idiots!!!

A. First to clear up your misinformation: To ONLY give chicken bones would result in malnutrition due to the lack of variety in a dog's diet, but to give raw chicken with bones as a part of a well balanced raw diet is really good. I do it every day. You are thinking of cooked chicken bones which are indeed brittle and can cause serious damage to a dog. Worst advice I've read given here: When getting a new dog, just put the dogs together and let them work things out. (Very bad. Leads to dogs fighting for rank.) Take your dog to dog parks if he's scared of other dogs. (Leads to your dog being attacked and even more psychologically damaged) Squirt your dog in the face with water when he is being misbehaving. (Breaks down bond of trust… [cont.]
