How to ride public transport to Dapitan Public Market, Quezon City from Valenzuela?
Q. Hello; I am looking for places in Metro Manila where I can buy Filipino handcrafted items at cheap prices. I was told there is such a place in Quezon City near the Dapitan Public Market. Any advice on how to get there by riding public transportation (jeepney, FX, bus, or LRT/MRT) from Valenzuela (McArthur Hwy)? Or is there another place to find similar items? Many thanks in advance!
Asked by Too Good to be True - Sun Aug 17 22:25:02 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. From Valenzuela, take a bus going to Cubao (South) until you reach Quezon Ave. From there, take a jeepney of FX going to Quiapo (West). When you reach Mayon, take a jeepney there passing through Dapitan. From there, you can now see the Dapitan Pub. Mkt. and the handicrafts that you're looking for. Or From Valenzuela, take a jeepney going to Blumintritt. When you reach Mayon, take a jeepney again passing through Dapitan St.

A. There should be a reception desk or a police officer you can ask there. If not, I would start at the ground floor, or ask in the treasurer's office.

A. Patio Ibarra has a restaurant with a mixed garden and European-style setting. It may not be very cheap, but the good impression from your wife's family and relatives certainly makes the extra payment worth it.

A. A lot of age discrimination goes on. The young resent the old. The old resent everyone because they worked long and hard and see their incomes erode by inflation. Gender to a much smaller extent.

A. During the day your pretty much safe no matter where you are in Manila or Quezon City. At night though I would highly advise that you have someone with you or you stick to places that have lots of people. But on the level its not as bad as you hear. Break your money up on you so in the unlikely even you do get held up you have that little bit of money in another pocket to get you back to your home base. Carry a cell phone all the time with your local contacts and for the love of god do not act like your rich because you'll be setting yourself up for something bad. Most importantly respect the locals and don't act like your above them. Really did pick a good place to visit though.

A. Makati is better, its safer and the bars and the crowd are more upscale in the greenbelt-glorietta area (good shopping). the Makati Ave., still have a lot of girly bars and Westerners. the malate area have smaller bars and the crowd is varied from hookers to tourists. The timog - T. Morato area is more family oriented and the restaurants and bars are really full only fridays and saturdays. and hookers on Q. Ave. can be found under the trees in this street but definitely not good looking. so its up to you what you're looking for. so wherever you go hookers are everywhere.
