Can someone get suspended from high school for being late?
Q. So with my high school principal I got into a little argument about suspension. He claims that he can suspend me on the grounds that I often, meaning 2-3 times a week, wake up late and arrive late to my first period class. According to the regional school board site, ( they can suspend me for "habitual neglect of duty". Can he do this? Or is this old rascal just trying to intimidate me?

A. They can do so. I was very close to a 3 day suspension for tardies. My friend racked up 52 tardies last year and he got a suspension. Once I heard what happened to him, I started to leave earlier to school to try to avoid any suspension.

Is there anywhere that you can find the national/regional topics a school will cover throughout the year?
Q. I'm looking for what areas each age/Key stage covers and when in the year they do each topic ie spring term, Victorian, Egyptians, etc. Can anyone help me locate this information?
Asked by NICKI_MUM_OF_K - Thu Dec 4 14:31:58 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You're best to ask at school as I think each primary school is pretty much free to cover whatever topics they like as long as it covers each of the skill sets: speaking, listening, literacy and mathematics. You can get interesting information from the dfes site: Use their search feature to find out more about what is required at key stages 1 and 2.

what regional accredited universities accept national accredited bachelor's degree for master's?
Q. I will earn a bachelor's degree from a national accredited university and want to make my master's at a regional accredited school.
Asked by Schnatzel - Wed Sep 12 23:47:59 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I am not sure who the accrediting association is but the regional association will have guidelines about such matters. For example, if you are interested in transferring to a college in Georgia, go to the Southeastern Association of Colleges website and see what their rules are for schools they accredit.

Do I have a chance at going to law school?
Q. Recently I have seriously considering going to law school but not sure if I have a good shot. I went to a regional engineering school in NJ that is very well known and is up and coming in the nation. I started of with an Electrical Engineering Degree where half way through I decided that I hated it and switched to Managment E Commerce. It took me 7 yrs to get my degree because I had to work the majority of the time I was in school. Because I switched majors my GPA isn't that high (2.8). However, I held several positions in my sorority, invoved in some clubs, recieved who's who, Oder of Omega, and some other awards. I was in the the AF for four years and did pretty well there with some other awards. I'm currently getting my MS in Info Syst… [cont.]

A. 2.8? Sure. It's not going to be the highest law school, but provided you get a respectable LSAT score, you can make it into an ABA approved one. Are you scoring above a 150 at least? If so, you're a pretty safe bet to get into a few ABA accredited law schools.

A. Well, you say to 'make your voice sound better', but if your voice isn't up to scratch at this point, there's not much you can do to change it by Saturday. Practice, practice, practice!! That is the best advice I can offer. That way, you will feel confident in your voice and with the piece you are performing. Make sure to warm up each day before singing, and warm up before going. Get plenty of sleep the day before your audition, and do not drink or eat anything dairy before your audition! Make sure you're breathing from your diaphram, not from your chest. Try not to clear your throat excessively often, as that can hurt your vocal chords (it's hard not to do, I'll admit!). Relax, have fun, and good luck!

What's "regional" about your school?
Q. What's different about your school just because it is where it is? At my school, we sometimes get chicken gumbo and red beans and rice for lunch. We study Mississippi Studies for 9 weeks our freshman year. Science and history focus more on hurricanes than most schools. (I had one of my northern cousins ask me once why a hurricane's different from a tornado, since they both rotate and come with storms.) We don't have daily P. E. and health classes. Yup, good ole' healthy, fattest in the nation Mississippi. So... what's different about your school

A. Just a word to the wise to be very cautious and not give personal info about oneself here or in chatrooms albeit there are some very helpful people here :) Regarding which school to attend, perhaps visiting both can help one to decide and then listing the pro's and con's of each too. Perhaps look at the passing rate of each school in addition to afterschool activities that one is interested in can help steer which way as well.

where should i go to school?
Q. my high school was shut down this year, and now i can't decide on where to go. i've narrowed it down to 3 options, 2 catholic schools, 1 public. the catholic schools are Nativity BVM high school and our lady of lourdes regional high school. the public school is north schuylkill jr./sr. high school. i was wondering if anyone could look at the websites of the schools and give me some advice on what i should do nativity: lourdes: north schuylkill: i have to know by tomorrow, any input will help.

A. Nativity had a MUCH better offering of activities, sports, and academics listed than the other two. Loudes has an extremely small class size. They said the average is 12 students per class, and they said they have a cooperative arrangement with North Schuykill for some of the sports. North Schuylkill did not have much of anything listed. IMO, the Catholic schools give a much better overall education, and they will give you a better chance of getting into college (if that's what you want). They also offered a Vocational track that the others did not seem to have, and they listed a lot of clubs. Overall, I think Nativity would be the best choice, with Lourdes being a close second.

help balancing friends and school?
Q. This year I decided to go to a regional high school, that includes kids from all over the county. Everyone there is super nice and there are no cliques (probably because we are all nerds, lol), but I can't seem to make new friends. Everyone else bonded so quickly and is outgoing and sociable. For Halloween they even went trick or treating with one another, taking a preference with each other then with kids from their hometown. A. It is not pathetic at all! It's totally normal, especially if you are so wrapped up in your important studies. I think that the best way to start off with getting into the social scene is for you and your close friend to pick one day out of each week (or an hour or two,one day a week) and just go out to a populated place with your classmates,or even strangers, and just mingle! Get pumped up before you go out, dress well, listen to techno :P go out and have some fun! You two shouldn't be too shy when talking to new people either because you will have each other to lean on. I think we all can agree that when our good friends are around,we're not nearly as shy or antisocial as we are when they AREN'T with us. Make sure to plan these "fun" days… [cont.]
