Can I get a job at an airport with just a high school education?
Q. Given my rather bleak financial situation, I might have to drop out of college completely as a sophomore and get a full time job just to support myself for the time being. But I want to get a career that is related to my passion: Aviation. That being said, what kind of Job could I get at a small regional airfield with just a high-school education? Or anywhere thats related to aviation?

A. You can always get a job of some sort - security, customer service, and so on - but if your airport is small there might not be many jobs on offer. Is there no way you can get a part time job? Have you talked to your college, city or church about possible scholarships, assistance funds and so on? If you join the Armed Forces they will fund your continuing education and encourage you all the way. I know that many people all over the world are concerned about some of the action currently being taken, but a soldier who honestly and faithfully follows lawful orders is serving his or her nation, even if politicians are giving the wrong orders. Lastly, if none of this is for you, don't give up on your education. Look into completing your… [cont.]

What is high school solo competition like?
Q. This is my first time doing a solo competition, so I don't know how difficult it will be. I play clarinet, and have first chair in our top band, but with no other bands to compare to, I don't know what that's saying. I know that I'm not incredible, haha, but for a high schooler, I think I'm good. But how stiff is the competition at these things? I'm referring to the first one, so whatever that would be (districts, regional?).

A. first of all, it depends on what state you live in but i'm going to speak from my experience in texas: districts are not bad AT ALL. if you have the notes under your fingers fairly well, you will make it to region. once you're at region, you have to focus on even fingers, technicality is big to make it, but if you want to make first you need musicality as well (lyrical, DYNAMICS!!!) then, if you make area, it's all about dynamics and what you do with the pieces because almost everyone is good technically. just practice practice practice and try to get varied opinions from different teachers.

A. Very good. I think Texas, California, Florida, and Ohio are better, but Georgia has some quality programs there like Warner Robins, Valdosta, Brookwood, Parkview, and others. The lowest of the classifications have turned out players like Herschel Walker and Garrison Hearst in the past. I know Chattahoochee has a good program.
